2015 has been a great year for Bollywood films. Just a few months are left for the year to end and the industry has seen some of the biggest releases till now, from an emotional Bajrangi Bhaijaan to Dil Dhadakne Do.
Here are Bollywood’s top box office grossers of 2015:
1. Bajrangi Bhaijaan
Salman Khan impressed one and all with his performance in Bajrangi Bhaijaan. The emotional story of the little girl Munni played by Harshaali Malhotra struck an emotional chord with the audiences. The film went on to make approximately Rs 4,11,13,00,000 at the box office. Bajrangi Bhaijaan released strategically during the time of Eid, which helped in making the film an even bigger hit.
2. Tanu Weds Manu Returns
Tanu Weds Manu, which made the sequel one of the much awaited ones. Tanu Weds Manu Returns hit the screens on May 22 and manage to gross approximately Rs 1,97,86,00,000.
3. ABCD 2
Yet another sequel which in 2015 was ABCD – Any Body Can Dance – 2. The film kept up the expectations set by its prequel ABCD which released in 2013. ABCD 2 starred Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead role and grossed Approximately Rs 1,39,73,00,000.
4. Gabbar Is Back and Baby
Akshay Kumar shined through 2015 with two big releases – Gabbar Is Back and Baby. The actor was in complete action mode. His year started off with Baby which released in January, followed up with Gabbar Is Back in May. Baby grossed approximately Rs 1,09,53,00,000, while Gabbar Is Back made Rs 1,16,57,00,000.
5. Piku
The film explored the nuances of a father-daughter relationship, shared by Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone. The film was not made on a big budget, but managed to gross in Rs 1,05,31,00,000. T
