Liverpool manager Brendan Rogers has been sensationally sacked after today’s 1-1 draw with arch rivals Everton. Rogers who took over from Reds legend Kenny Dalglish in 2012 took Liverpool to with in a whisker of the title in 2013.
If Liverpool were to have won the title in 2013 this would have been their first since 1990. Sadly though Liverpool sold Louis Suarez who was one of the main reasons why they challenged for the league a couple of summers ago.
When Suarez did leave for Barcelona Liverpool struggled to replace his goals as they finished fifth . Another factor was that the Uruguayan’s strike partner Daniel Sturridge was mainly injured for last season.
A 6-1 defeat at the end of the season lead for fans calling for the Northern Irishmen to be sacked last season, but Rogers survived . This season started in uninspiring fashion for Liverpool with low key wins in their first few games .
High profile defeats however to West Ham and Manchester United pretty much lead the writing to be on the wall for Brendan Rodgers and increased speculation on the Northern Irishmen’s future . The Liverpool board then decided enough was enough after Liverpool drew against arch rivals Everton.
Former Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp is expected to take over – but Carlo Ancelotti has been linked with the Anfield hot seat .
