The Lord Mayor paid a huge thank you to Wyke Library’s ‘Knit and Knatter Group’ for helping raise money to support the Lord Mayor’s charity appeal.

The knitting group which meets at the library, along with library staff, held a special craft and bake sale event where they managed to raise over £1000.

The Lord Mayor welcomed members the group to city hall where he was presented with a cheque to be donated to his chosen charities, Sue Ryder Hospice and Bradford Nightstop.

Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Zafar Ali, said: “I’m so grateful to the ladies of the Knit & Knatter group as well as staff at Wyke library for helping organise this event. They raised an amazing amount of money which will all go towards the appeal.

“It was a pleasure to attend on the day of the sale and I had a great time helping to sell some of the items and meeting some of the people who came along.

“The event was a great success and the demand was so great that I understand that the group are still busy knitting away to fulfill orders that were taken on the day.”
