NHS staff lends a helping hand on Bradford’s community farm
Members of staff from the local NHS in Bradford took time out to lend a hand with a ‘grow your own’ project at Horton Community Farm.
NHS Bradford City and NHS Bradford Districts clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) chose the city centre farm for a staff team volunteering challenge as it fits with the aim of the CCGs to help improve people’s health and wellbeing by providing fresh fruit and veg to local people and also offering low maintenance allotments where they can grow their own food.
The staff helped to tidy up the community garden created some compost bays to help local people to grow their own food. The farm team who work on the project regularly, which is a social enterprise, get paid to work only a few hours a week so help from the CCG staff was hugely appreciated and welcomed.
