Cllr Magid Magid made headline news when he became the Lord Mayor of Sheffield.

He was the first Somali and the youngest ever to take on the role in May 2016. He was also the very first Green Party Councillor to be given the role.

Magid quickly gained popularity with his unconventional approach to his civic role.

As a strong advocate for the Brexit Remain campaign the 29-year-old has now chosen to stand as a MEP candidate for the upcoming European Elections, representing the Green Party for Yorkshire & Humber.

Magid came to Britain as a child refugee in 1994 and has become one of the most strongest advocates for refugees.
