Filmmaker Karan Johar was equally enthusiastic, sharing the teaser on his Instagram Stories and calling it a “mega blockbuster.” He wrote, “UNREAL! Congratulations to the entire team, it is looking phenomenal and I cannot wait for the world to witness this magic!”
The teaser, released on Thursday, has received an overwhelmingly positive response, with viewers praising the striking visuals and the stirring background score. The music for the film has been composed by two legendary names, India’s AR Rahman and Hollywood maestro Hans Zimmer.
Fans were quick to celebrate the collaboration online. One user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote: “#Ramayana glimpse was too good. Hans Zimmer cooked so hard. Ranbir Kapoor is the greatest acting choice ever.”
Zimmer, known for his work on Interstellar, Dune, and The Lion King, joins AR Rahman to craft the musical landscape for this epic saga, raising expectations for a truly unforgettable cinematic experience.
The filmmakers have confirmed that Ramayana will be a grand theatrical release, created for IMAX screens and featuring cutting-edge action sequences. Hollywood stunt experts Terry Notary (Avengers, Planet of the Apes) and Guy Norris (Mad Max: Fury Road) have been brought on board to ensure world-class action choreography.
Set 5,000 years ago, Ramayana draws from ancient Indian mythology, presenting a timeless battle between light and darkness. While deeply rooted in Indian spiritual tradition, the production brings together a global creative team, including the designers behind Dune, Tomorrowland, and Captain America.
Producer Namit Malhotra, speaking at the teaser unveiling, described the project as “a cultural movement” and expressed his vision of introducing India’s greatest epic to global audiences through the most advanced cinematic tools.
He said: “I still can’t believe that we are actually seeing it and sharing it with all of you. It has been a very, very long dream that we have been collaborating to put our heart, soul, life into this, so that we can do justice to this epic.”
He added: “My only aspiration is, with pride, how do we take our greatest culture, our greatest part of our history, and share it with the world. We will leave no stone unturned to make sure that we deliver the very, very best that anybody in the world can try.”
Ramayana: Part 1 is scheduled to release during Diwali 2026, with Part 2 following in Diwali 2027.
