After ‘WandaVision’ ended on March 5, Marvel fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of the studio’s next series, ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’. The action-packed series is set to drop on Disney+ this Friday (March 19) and Marvel Studios have dropped the final trailer in anticipation of the release.
In the trailer, we see Sam Wilson (Antony Mackie) take up the Captain America shield that was offered to him at the end of ‘Avengers: Endgame’ by Steve Rodgers. Sam tells Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), “It feels like it belongs to somebody else”.
The introduction to our characters in the trailer tells us that the series will pick up with Sam’s decision to become “Captain America”. We know from previous trailers that much of the series will revolve around the government trying to prevent ‘The Falcon’ from becoming the American hero, and will follow as Sam tries to reconcile between what he thinks is right and his fears. As Bucky tells Sam in the trailer, “that shield represents a lot of things to a lot of people”.
We also get more of an introduction to Erin Kellyman’s character in this trailer, as she appears to face off in opposition to Sam. Sam tells her character that he does not want anything to turn into a war, but Kellyman tells him “it already is”.
The series is clearly set to be an action-packed, thrilling take on these characters. From the looks of things, ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ will see a return to the typical bombastic nature of the Marvel series after ‘WandaVision’. It reportedly cost an unbelievable $150 million, potentially making it the most expensive television series to ever be produced.
‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ will arrive on Disney+ on March 19. You can check out the final trailer below.
