Millie Bobby Brown has delivered a powerful response to the relentless criticism surrounding her recent appearance. The Stranger Things actress took to Instagram Stories to address comments labelling her as “too old” in a series of recent photos.
In her Instagram Story, the 20-year-old wrote succinctly, “Women grow!! Not sorry about it,” directly confronting those who judged her looks.

The criticism followed a mirror selfie Brown posted before the end of last year. In the image, she wore a floral white one-piece and showcased a ring while striking a pout. While some admired her style, others resorted to trolling.
One user mocked, “Millie’s Google history: ‘How to look 65 when you are 16.’” Another commented, “U look 35, what happened??”
Amidst the negativity, fans also rallied in her defence. One supporter wrote, “You’re still expecting her to look like baby Eleven. She’s not,” referencing her iconic role in Stranger Things.
Past criticism
This isn’t the first time Brown has faced such scrutiny. Throughout her career, particularly during her time on Stranger Things, she has been criticised for her red carpet looks, with many accusing her of appearing too mature.
In March 2024, the actress also addressed backlash about her accent, explaining that growing up between England and America required her to adapt and “mimic other people” as part of her acting craft.
Despite the harsh judgments, Millie Bobby Brown remains undeterred. She recently wrapped filming on Stranger Things Season 5, the final chapter of the beloved Netflix series that catapulted her to stardom.
Brown has also wowed audiences with roles in Enola Holmes and Godzilla: King of the Monsters. As her career continues to soar, she proves time and again that she won’t let critics dictate her narrative.
