Riding high on a streak of box office successes with Animal and Pushpa 2: The Rule, Rashmika Mandanna has temporarily paused filming due to a gym-related injury. The actor, who had been actively working on her upcoming projects, including Sikandar alongside Salman Khan and Thama with Vicky Kaushal, has taken a brief break for recovery.
A source close to Rashmika shared: “She recently sustained an injury during a gym session and is currently resting. While it caused a temporary halt in shooting schedules, Rashmika is already feeling much better and is expected to resume work soon.”
The actor had been filming Sikandar until the injury occurred. The final schedule for the film, directed by AR Murugadoss and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, was set to commence on 10 January. Despite the setback, sources remain confident that filming will conclude comfortably before the film’s scheduled Eid 2025 release. The action-packed project features Salman Khan in dual roles alongside Kajal Aggarwal, Rashmika, Sathyaraj, Sharman Joshi, and Prateik Babbar.
Rashmika is also receiving acclaim for her portrayal of Srivalli in Pushpa 2: The Rule, which has shattered box office records, surpassing Baahubali 2 and becoming the second-highest-grossing Indian film after Dangal. In celebration of its success, the makers announced Pushpa 2: The Rule Reloaded, with an additional 20 minutes of footage, set to hit theatres on 17 January.
Looking ahead, Rashmika will next appear in Rahul Ravindran’s directorial The Girlfriend. The film’s teaser, shared by her rumoured boyfriend Vijay Deverakonda, garnered significant attention. Deverakonda wrote: “I love every visual of this teaser. Rashmika has been a lucky charm for many actors, growing fiercely while remaining the same girl I met 8 years ago. Wishing her all success on this project where she shoulders great responsibility.”
Fans are eagerly awaiting Rashmika’s return to the sets and the big screen, where her powerful performances continue to captivate audiences.
