Drake has returned to the stage, but his latest tour entrance has left fans more amused than impressed. On Tuesday, during the launch of his Anita Max Win tour in Perth, Australia, the rapper made a dramatic entrance dressed in a black hoodie with bullet holes, accompanied by smoke billowing from his back. While it was clearly meant to be theatrical, the over-the-top visuals quickly sparked a wave of memes, and not exactly the kind of hype Drake may have anticipated.
With Kendrick Lamar dominating the 2025 Grammy Awards just days earlier, sweeping major categories such as Record of the Year and Song of the Year with his track Not Like Us (widely believed to be a diss track aimed at Drake), fans couldn’t help but draw comparisons. “Bro tryna say he got smoked by Kendrick at the Grammys,” one user quipped, while others joked that Drake’s entrance was an overreaction to Lamar’s success.
The rapper’s dramatic performance of Over My Dead Body set the tone for his 16-date tour across Australia and New Zealand, but fans were quick to call out the timing and theatrics. Some even renamed the tour, mocking it as the “Anita Be A Victim tour,” while others encouraged Drake to move on, with one comment reading, “Bro acting like people said he will fall off the planet or some shit, you lost the battle. Get on with it.”
Adding fuel to the fire, Drake took to the stage after his entrance to declare, “My name is Drake. I started in 2008, I came all the way from Toronto, Canada. The year is now 2025, and Drizzy Drake is very much still alive.”
This is Drake’s first visit to the region since his 2017 Boy Meets World tour, and the new tour is named after his alter ego, Anita Max Wynn — a playful reference to his love of gambling, a pun on the phrase “I need a max win.” However, despite his confidence, many fans felt his entrance was a tad excessive, leading to the viral backlash.
