The re-release of Sanam Teri Kasam on 7 February, nearly nine years after its original debut, reignited fan nostalgia and demand for a sequel. Riding this wave, director duo Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru hinted at a follow-up, confirming that a new love story is in the works for Valentine’s 2026. However, they stopped short of officially announcing Sanam Teri Kasam 2, leading to confusion among fans.
Producer Deepak Mukut, however, has made it clear that he holds the intellectual property rights to the film, meaning any sequel or prequel would require his approval. Mukut even revealed that he had already announced the sequel in September 2024, with Harshvardhan Rane reprising his role-yet, he claims to have had no discussions with the directors about it.
In response, Vinay Sapru downplayed any tension, stating, “We are a team. This journey is for all of us.” He also insisted there were “no hard feelings” and that they had even shared a friendly dinner with Mukut recently. But with no official green light, the fate of Sanam Teri Kasam 2 remains uncertain.
One of the biggest surprises surrounding the sequel is rumours of Shraddha Kapoor joining the cast. While there’s no confirmation from the makers, fans are already divided over the potential casting.
Some are thrilled at the idea of Shraddha returning to the romantic genre, especially given her success in films like Aashiqui 2 and Ek Villain. Others, however, aren’t convinced she’ll be able to recreate the magic of the original.
