After eight years of waiting, Rihanna has finally given fans an update on her long-awaited album-but not everyone is thrilled.

In a rare interview with Harper’s Bazaar, the singer teased that her upcoming project will be “unexpected”, “not commercial”, and “where my artistry deserves to be right now.” While some fans are excited, others are tired of the never-ending wait.

“We aren’t wanting it to be better than your last. We just want to continue admiring and listening to your art as an ever-changing artist.” said one X user
Another commented-“Rihanna better stop playin’ with me, I swear 💀. 8 years? I need 100 tracks at least.”

One fan was hopeful – “The fact that she said Anti wasn’t supposed to be ‘commercial’ either… oh, another masterpiece coming then.”

But there were quite a lot of scepticism as well, with comments like:”She knows she’s irrelevant without making music, so she keeps baiting to stay trending, and that way, the beauty business keeps moving.”

“Making excuses before it bombs.”

Rihanna, however, made it clear that she’s in no rush to release just anything.

“This much time away from music needs to count for the next thing everyone hears. It has to count. I cannot put up anything mediocre. After waiting eight years, you might as well just wait some more,” she said.

Despite the fan frustration, she remains “really optimistic”, adding, “I feel like I’ve finally cracked it, girl!”

With no release date in sight, the Navy is left with a familiar dilemma-trust the process or spiral into despair. Either way, Rihanna knows exactly how to keep the world talking.
