At the IIFA 2025 Silver Jubilee celebrations, veteran producer Boney Kapoor dropped a major revelation-he is planning a sequel to Sridevi’s last film, Mom, this time featuring his daughter Khushi Kapoor in the lead.

Speaking to the media on the green carpet, Boney Kapoor expressed his admiration for both his daughters, Khushi and Janhvi Kapoor, stating that they are striving to follow in their mother Sridevi’s footsteps, aiming for the same level of excellence across different film industries.

“I have watched all of Khushi’s films-Archies, Loveyappa, and Nadaaniyaan,” he shared. “I am planning a film with her too, after No Entry. It could be Mom 2. She is trying to follow in the footsteps of her mother, who was the top star in every language she worked in. I hope both Khushi and Janhvi achieve the same level of perfection.”

Released in 2017, Mom marked Sridevi’s final cinematic performance, earning her a posthumous National Award for Best Actress. The film, directed by Ravi Udyawar, was a gripping revenge drama that resonated deeply with audiences.

Fans reacted with a mix of excitement and scepticism, with one writing on X:
“If Mom 2 happens with Khushi Kapoor, it will be just another nepotism win!”

Another added:
“Boney Kapoor reviving Mom? Just hope they do justice to Sridevi’s legacy!”

Apart from Mom 2, Boney Kapoor also shared updates on his much-anticipated sequel to the 2005 hit comedy No Entry. While he refrained from revealing the full cast, he confirmed that the project is set to go on floors between July and August.

“There are too many leading ladies, so I can’t just talk about a few now. We have locked a few and still have some more to finalise. Once everything is set, there will be a formal announcement,” he said.

Reports suggest that No Entry 2 will feature Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor, and Diljit Dosanjh in pivotal roles. The original 2005 film, directed by Anees Bazmee, starred Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, and Fardeen Khan, alongside Bipasha Basu, Lara Dutta, and Esha Deol. It remains one of Bollywood’s most celebrated comedy films.

The IIFA Digital Awards, held on 8 March, saw big wins for Kriti Sanon, Jitendra Kumar, Panchayat Season 3, and Amar Singh Chamkila.

Meanwhile, the main IIFA Awards night, hosted by Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar on 9 March, featured a special performance by Kareena Kapoor Khan, paying tribute to her legendary grandfather, Raj Kapoor.

Adding to the nostalgia, the event also marked the 50 year anniversary of Sholay with a special screening at the iconic Rajmandir Cinema.

With Mom 2 in early discussions and No Entry 2 gearing up for production, it looks like Boney Kapoor is set to bring back both intense drama and comedy gold to Bollywood screens.
