Cocktail 2 tops UK and global trailer charts as anticipation soars

Fourteen years after the original Cocktail became a defining romantic drama for a generation of cinema-goers, its long-awaited sequel is already making waves internationally ahead of its release.

The trailer for Cocktail 2 has topped YouTube’s Movie Trailer Charts in eight countries, including the UK, India and several Gulf nations, signalling strong early interest from audiences across key overseas markets.

According to figures released following the trailer launch, Cocktail 2 reached number one in India, the United Kingdom, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait. The trailer has also entered YouTube’s Top 10 Movie Trailer Chart in the United States, placing it alongside major Hollywood studio releases.

The early response suggests the film could emerge as one of the strongest-performing Hindi cinema releases overseas this summer, particularly in territories where South Asian audiences have traditionally driven box-office success.

Starring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna, the film has generated significant online discussion since the trailer’s release, with viewers praising its visual style, emotional storyline and the chemistry between the lead cast.

Directed by Homi Adajania, Cocktail 2 marks a return to the filmmaker’s blend of romance, humour and contemporary relationship drama that helped make the original film a commercial and cultural success.

The sequel has been written by Luv Ranjan and Tarun Jain, and is produced by Dinesh Vijan through Maddock Films in association with Luv Films and Ankur Garg.

With anticipation continuing to build across the UK, Gulf region and North America, industry observers will be watching closely to see whether Cocktail 2 can replicate the international appeal of its predecessor and translate its strong online engagement into box-office success when it arrives in cinemas later this month.

Cocktail 2 is scheduled for international release on 19 June through Marudhar Entertainment.
