Indian music star Guru Randhawa has become the first Indian artist to officially collaborate with global K-pop phenomenon LE SSERAFIM, marking a significant milestone in the growing cultural exchange between South Asian and Korean popular music.
The Punjabi singer-songwriter has joined the five-member girl group for a new global remix of their hit track BOOMPALA, bringing together two of the world’s most influential music markets in what industry observers are describing as a landmark cross-cultural collaboration.
Released through Warner Music India, the remix sees Randhawa add Punjabi lyrics and his signature energetic style to the track, blending Indian pop influences with the group’s Latin house-inspired sound.
The collaboration arrives at a time when LE SSERAFIM’s global profile continues to soar. The group’s latest album, PUREFLOW pt.1, debuted at No.10 on the Billboard 200 and secured the top spot on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart, giving the quintet their fifth consecutive Top 10 album in the United States.
Comprised of KIM CHAEWON, SAKURA, HUH YUNJIN, KAZUHA and HONG EUNCHAE, LE SSERAFIM has built a worldwide fanbase through its fusion of contemporary pop, performance-driven music and global storytelling. Their hit single BOOMPALA, which samples the iconic Macarena, has already gained significant momentum internationally and entered the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart.
For Randhawa, the partnership represents another step in a career that has increasingly transcended geographical boundaries. The singer has previously collaborated with international artists including Pitbull, Jay Sean, The Chainsmokers, Rick Ross and French Montana, helping establish him as one of the most globally recognised Punjabi artists of his generation.
Speaking about the collaboration, Randhawa said he was drawn to the song’s celebratory energy and saw similarities between its festival atmosphere and the music culture enjoyed by audiences across India.
“LE SSERAFIM is incredible and BOOMPALA already has an infectious energy that reminds me of the massive, celebratory vibe we love in India,” he said.
The K-pop stars said the collaboration aligned closely with the group’s vision of bringing people together through music regardless of language, geography or culture.
“We are absolutely thrilled to collaborate with Guru Randhawa,” the group said. “When we created BOOMPALA, our goal was to bring people together across different generations and cultures through a shared, festival-like energy.”
The remix combines Korean, English, Spanish and Punjabi lyrics, creating what both artists hope will become a truly global anthem. Beyond its commercial appeal, the release reflects the increasing influence of Asian artists on the global music landscape and the growing appetite among younger audiences for collaborations that cross traditional cultural boundaries.
As K-pop’s popularity continues to expand across South Asia and Indian music reaches new international audiences, the partnership between LE SSERAFIM and Guru Randhawa could signal the beginning of a new chapter in global pop collaborations.
The remix of BOOMPALA (feat. Guru Randhawa) is available now on streaming platforms worldwide.
