Some stories belong to everyone, narratives so deeply woven into a community’s cultural fabric that they span generations and continents while retaining their essence.

The Ramayana is one of these timeless tales.

This July, a celebrated theatrical retelling of this epic, titled Humare Ram, is set to make its London debut.

Humare Ram will take the stage at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith from 9 to 12 July 2026, with only six performances scheduled.

Tickets are already available through Eventim, and with its successful track record of over 800,000 viewers across more than 450 shows in India, it’s expected to draw a significant audience in London as well.

For British South Asian families who have passed this story through generations, the importance of seeing it on a London stage can’t be overstated.

This production is not just a simple retelling; it approaches the Ramayana from a contemporary angle.

Instead of merely revisiting familiar narratives, Humare Ram uncovers lesser-known perspectives, bringing to life untold chapters and voices long forgotten. The result resonates just as richly with second and third-generation audiences as it does with those who grew up cherishing the Ramayana.

The production excels in its presentation, featuring a cast of over 100 performers, stunning visual effects, aerial sequences, and handcrafted costumes.

The original music features contributions from renowned artists such as Shankar Mahadevan, Sonu Nigam, and Kailash Kher, making the soundtrack a unique highlight.

For anyone familiar with Indian live events in the UK, experiencing these beloved voices in a theatrical setting is truly remarkable.

Two standout performances anchor the show.

Ashutosh Rana, a prominent figure in Indian cinema known for roles in Dushman, Sangharsh, War, Pathaan, and most recently, Chhaava, returns to the stage after a 25-year absence to portray Ravan. His interpretation of Ravan goes beyond the typical villain portrayal, offering a character of genuine complexity.

“Ravan is one of literature’s most complex characters,” he shared. “Humare Ram invites audiences to look beyond good and evil and explore the deeper human questions that still shape our lives today.”

In the role of Shri Ram is Rahull R Bhuchar, the founder of Felicity Theatre, who not only plays the character but also created the production from the ground up. He emphasised the significance of bringing Humare Ram to London: “This is more than a theatre production — it is a celebration of heritage, storytelling, and shared identity among families that have carried this story across generations and continents.”

The show has already attracted an impressive list of attendees in India, including Sachin Tendulkar, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Vidya Balan, Hema Malini, and Mukesh and Nita Ambani, reflecting its cultural prestige and cross-generational appeal.

For Zee TV UK, the London premiere marks a significant cultural milestone. Parul Goel, Territory Head for Europe at Zee Entertainment, remarked, “For over three decades, Zee has connected generations through stories that celebrate culture and identity. Bringing Humare Ram to London is a landmark moment and demonstrates our commitment to providing world-class cultural experiences across the UK.”

With only six performances across four nights at one of London’s most iconic venues, demand is anticipated to be high.

The production is in Hindi, with a limited number of real-time English audio translation headsets available on a first-come, first-served basis, ensuring accessibility for a diverse audience.
