Priyanka Chopra is gearing up for a thrilling new chapter in her acting career with the highly anticipated SSMB29 project. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker SS Rajamouli, best known for the global blockbuster RRR, the film marks Chopra’s return to Telugu cinema after more than two decades. She will star alongside South Indian superstar Mahesh Babu in what is touted as a globe-trotting adventure, reportedly being made on a staggering budget of ₹900-1,000 crores.
The film has already generated immense buzz, with Mahesh Babu’s role rumoured to be inspired by Lord Hanuman, and the project expected to span two parts, showcasing exotic international locations.
Chopra’s return to work follows her recent visit to Mumbai, where she attended her brother Siddharth Chopra’s wedding, accompanied by her husband Nick Jonas and her in-laws. After wrapping up the family celebrations, the actress shared an Instagram story bidding farewell to her “wedding nails,” hinting she was back in work mode.
Onlookers spotted Chopra at Mumbai Airport on Sunday 16 February as she jetted off to Hyderabad, where she is believed to be commencing work on SSMB29. She turned heads in a vibrant neon green co-ord set and later took to Instagram Stories to share a brief clip from her arrival in Hyderabad. While fans eagerly await official confirmation of her role, the signs strongly suggest that Chopra is set to headline this grand cinematic venture.
SSMB29 will be Chopra’s first Telugu film since P. Ravi Shankar’s 2002 romantic entertainer Apuroopam. Her last Bollywood appearance was in Shonali Bose’s 2019 drama The Sky Is Pink.
Beyond SSMB29, Chopra’s global slate remains packed. She is set to reunite with Nick Jonas and the Jonas Brothers for a festive holiday film, while fans can also look forward to her reprising her role in the second season of Amazon Prime’s hit series Citadel.
With a diverse lineup spanning Indian cinema and Hollywood, Priyanka Chopra continues to cement her status as a global powerhouse in entertainment.
