0

Ryan Hurst has been casted as Kratos in Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming live-action adaptation of God of War, taking on the lead role in the highly anticipated series based on the popular video game franchise.

The casting marks a return to the God of War universe for Hurst, who previously voiced the Norse god Thor in the video game God of War: Ragnarök. This time, however, he will portray Kratos, the titular God of War and central figure of both the series and the wider franchise.

According to the official character description, Kratos is “Spartan by birth, and a god by nature”. Raised within a rigid martial culture, he rose through the ranks to command armies in service of his homeland before making a fateful bargain with Ares, the Greek God of War, sacrificing his soul in exchange for victory in battle.

As previously reported, the series will follow the storyline of the two most recent God of War games, focusing on Kratos’ relationship with his ten-year-old son, Atreus. The logline states that father and son embark on a journey to scatter the ashes of Kratos’ wife and Atreus’ mother, Faye. Along the way, Kratos attempts to teach his son how to be a better god, while Atreus challenges his father to learn how to be a better human.

Hurst is best known on television for his role as Opie Winston in FX’s biker drama Sons of Anarchy, as well as for playing the villain Beta in AMC’s The Walking Dead. His other television credits include The Abandons, Outsiders and Bates Motel. In film, he has appeared in Remember the Titans, Saving Private Ryan and We Were Soldiers, and is set to feature in Christopher Nolan’s forthcoming adaptation of The Odyssey. He is represented by UTA and Piper Kaniecki Marks Management.

Amazon’s God of War adaptation has been in development for several years, having originally been greenlit in 2022. The project underwent a major creative change in October 2024 when original showrunner Rafe Judkins departed the series. Ronald D. Moore subsequently joined as writer, executive producer and showrunner under his Tall Ship Productions banner.

Frederick E.O. Toye will direct the first two episodes, while Maril Davis executive produces alongside Cory Barlog, Naren Shankar, Matthew Graham, Asad Qizilbash, Jeff Ketcham, Hermen Hulst, Roy Lee and Brad Van Arragon. Joe Menosky, Marc Bernardin, Tania Lotia and Ben McGinnis serve as co-executive producers. The series is co-produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, in association with PlayStation Productions and Tall Ship Productions, which operates under an overall deal with Sony TV.

Letitia Wright’s Shuri, who took on the Black Panther mantle after the death of Chadwick Boseman in 2022’s “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” returns with narration, saying, “I’ve lost everyone that matters to me. A king has his duties, to prepare our people for the afterlife. I have mine.”

“King M’Baku of Wakanda,” says Namor, to which the Thing introduces him as “Ben. Yancy Street between Broome and Grand.”

Marvel shared the teaser on their Instagram handle.

This teaser marks the first time that the ‘Fantastic Four’ have met a character from the MCU after they made their debut in their alternate 1960s world in last summer’s ‘First Steps.’ last year.

The end credits of ‘Thunderbolts’ had previously teased the Fantastic Four crossing into the MCU, and now they’ll be able to meet a whole cast of characters in ‘Doomsday.’

Before the teaser concludes, a spider can be seen coming out of the corpse, ending it on a creepy note.

“The young daughter of a journalist disappears into the desert without a trace–eight years later, the broken family is shocked when she is returned to them, as what should be a joyful reunion turns into a living nightmare,” states the film’s official logline.

Written and directed by Lee Cronin, ‘The Mummy’ features Jack Reynor, Laia Costa, May Calamawy, Natalie Grace, with Veronica Falcon.

The film is produced by James Wan, Jason Blum and John Keville under the banner of New Line Cinema, Atomic Monster and Blumhouse.

It is worth mentioning that the iconic duo are now set to reunite for the fourth ‘Mummy’ adventure with filmmakers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, as per Variety.

Owen Cooper makes history as youngest-ever supporting actor Golden Globe winner

0

‘Adolescence’ star Owen Cooper picked up his first Golden Globe on Sunday night, winning the award for Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series. At just 16, Cooper has become the youngest winner ever in the category, surpassing Chris Colfer, who was 20 when he won for ‘Glee’ in 2010.

The win also makes Cooper the second-youngest male Golden Globe winner in history. The record for the youngest still belongs to ‘The Champ’ star Ricky Schroder, who was just nine years old when he won New Star of the Year in 1980.

As Cooper accepted the award he said: “Standing here at the Golden Globes does not feel real whatsoever. What an incredible journey me and my family have been on” which drew laughter from the audience. “We are forever grateful for what these people have done for me and my family.”

He went on to share that he was the only boy in his drama class, admitting it was “embarrassing” at the time, but said he pushed through it. Cooper added that he is “still learning every day”, particularly from the actors in the audience.

Earlier this year, Cooper also made history at the Emmys, winning Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, becoming the youngest male acting winner in Emmy history. He was recognised for his breakout role as Jamie Miller in the Netflix miniseries ‘Adolescence’.
