Birmingham named whiplash fraud capital of the UK

BIRMINGHAM HAS THE HIGHEST CAR INSURANCE PREMIUMS IN UK AFTER BEING NAMED WHIPLASH FRAUD CAPITAL OF THE UK

By Staff Reporter

Birmingham city centre –  Britain’s whiplash fraud capital has the highest car insurance premiums in the whole of the UK, according to new research.

All of the worst 10 postcodes for car insurance in UK are in Birmingham and most of these are within a few miles of the city’s notorious Benefits Street – James Turner Street.

Insurers say Britain’s second city also has the highest number of bogus whiplash claims, which add £90 to every motorist’s bill.

In a survey of all UK cities by SmartWitness Incident Cameras (suppliers of Britain’s most popular vehicle journey recorders)  it was revealed that Birmingham’s motor insurance premiums have shot up and are now seven times higher than Aberdeen, the UK’s cheapest city for car insurance. The price of insuring a BMW 3 Series in Bordesley Green, Birmingham B9 is £1,101.62 per year, compared with Aberdeen city centre which comes in at only £157 for the same car.

All the next nine postcodes are all in Birmingham and most are within just a few miles of James Turner Street which was the subject of the Channel 4 documentary Benefits Street, so-called because most of its inhabitants claim benefits.

The other Birmingham post-codes were 2nd worst B10 Small Heath, 3rd B11 Sparkhill, 4th B66 Smethwick, 5th B8 Washwood Heath, 6th B21 Handsworth, 7th B12 Balsall Heath, 8th B18 Winson Green (exactly where Benefits Street is situated), 9th B19 Lozells, and finally 10th Digbeth B5.

Overall Birmingham has more than a fifth of the worst 100 postcodes for motor insurance premiums in the country – 22 in total.

The second worst city in the UK for car insurance is Liverpool with 17 of the top 100; East London is third on 13, Manchester 4th with 11, 5th is North London with nine; 5th South East London with seven; 6th is Bradford with six postcodes, and seventh worst is Sheffield with three postcodes.

SmartWitness managing director Simon Marsh said: “Part of the reason for the sharp increase for the car insurance premiums is that Birmingham has become the capital of whiplash claims in the UK. The six top areas for Third Party Injury (TPI) claims are all in Birmingham and it’s no great surprise that those neighbourhoods mirror very closely those with the highest premiums in our survey.”

The top five areas with the highest number of third party injury claims are: 1 Washwood Heath, Birmingham B8 (5th highest premiums), 2 Balsall Heath B12 (7th highest premiums), 3 Small Heath B10 (2nd highest premiums), 4 Bordesley Green B9 (1st Highest premiums in UK), and 5 Aston B6 (47th highest).

Mr Marsh added: “Most insurance experts have said that whiplash claims have cost motorists around £90 a year in increased premiums. Over 40% of motor insurance claims are contested but only 2% of SmartWitness claims are, so you can see that having reliable video evidence practically eliminates bogus whiplash claims.”

Other UK cities with high numbers of TPI claims are Bradford with four of the top 20 worst postcodes, Manchester next with three, and Liverpool and London have one each.

The cities with low TPI claims also had the lowest insurance premiums. Several of Scotland’s cities had the lowest premiums in the UK and also the lowest number of TPI claims.

Aberdeen had three postcodes in the top 20 lowest areas for TPI claims – and is the cheapest UK city for car insurance.

Bradford’s Muslim women are awarded at a prestigious ceremony in London for their work with the Winston Churchill Travelling Fellowship

coversmallGood friends and even better travelling buddies, Nassara Bostan, Business Advisor and Samina Tariq, Barnardos Youth Worker from Bradford were presented with their Churchill medallions at a prestigious biennial award ceremony in Westminster, London on Wednesday, 28 May, after successfully completing their Winston Churchill Travelling Fellowships. Nassara and Samina were presented with a Churchill medallion by Guest of Honour, Dame Mary Peters DBE, Olympic gold medal winning pentathlete and a 1972 Churchill Fellow herself, Dame Mary presented 113 Fellows with their medallions at a ceremony in Church House, in Central London. Church House has significant Churchillian associations as during the Blitz, Winston Churchill requisitioned Church House as a makeshift Houses of Parliament after the originals had been damaged by bombing. It was also from Church House that he made his famous speech announcing the sinking of the Bismarck on 24 May 1941. As part of Nassara’s Fellowship, Nassara travelled to Malaysia and Indonesia in 2011 for 12 weeks to investigate the role of women’s leadership in the Muslim world, with a view to raising awareness of issues that affect young British Muslim women in their professional lives and to research and explore best practice examples from South east Asia and to use these to educate and inspire the next generation of young British Muslim women to thrive and confidently realise their personal and professional dreams and aspirations. As part of Saminas Fellowship, Samina travelled across the USA and Canada in 2012 to research and explore examples of non-medical interventions used to empower people with facial differences.  Using her fellowship’s experiences, Samina now arranges storytelling workshops to support young people to share their experience of facial differences.  She is also a volunteer with the Katie Piper Foundation. Speaking about the the Fellowship, Nassara said “The Travelling Fellowship, Nassara said “The Travelling Fellowships provide amazing opportunities for British citizens to go abroad on a worthwhile topic of their own choosing, with the aim of enriching their lives through wider experience – and to bring back the benefit to others in their UK profession or community through sharing the results of their new knowledge”. Dame Mary praised all the Fellows for their outstanding achievements, and said that “the Fellowship represents a wonderful opportunity to give something back to the community and others in the UK. We all have talents. Strive for personal excellence – doing ordinary things in an extraordinary way”. She also urged the Fellows’ to continue to follow their dreams, saying “it is attitude rather than aptitude that matters”.

The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust

In 2015 The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust will be investing £1.2million in British citizens by awarding a record number of 150 Travelling Fellowships, in order to mark its 50th anniversary. This will directly support British citizens who want to travel overseas to gain knowledge, experience and best practice to benefit others in their UK professions and communities, and society as a whole. The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust was established shortly after Sir Winston’s death in 1965, as his national memorial and living legacy. Since then it has awarded over 4820 Travelling Fellowships. The application process is now open, and there are 11 varied categories in which people can apply. Visit www.wcmt.org.uk for more details, or to apply before 5pm on 23rd September 2014, for travel in 2015. Successful applicants must demonstrate the commitment, the character and the tenacity to travel globally in pursuit of new and better ways of tackling a wide range of current challenges facing the UK, and upon their return work to transform and improve aspects of today’s society. A travelling sabbatical for people with the drive, determination and desire to help others, can further their leadership and role model abilities. Employers often also see great benefits with employees returning with new knowledge, skills and ideas to share with others within the organisation. Applications are judged purely on project merit, and these opportunities are available to UK residents over the age of 18, of any ethnicity, religion, or gender. Successful applicants will receive an average Fellowship grant of over £6000, covering return airfare, daily living costs, insurance and travel within the countries being visited, for approximately 6 weeks overseas.

BRADFORD NEWS: RESPECT FAIL TO GAIN ANY SEATS AS LABOUR GAIN’S MAJORITY CONTROL OF BRADFORD COUNCIL!

RESPECT FAIL TO GAIN ANY SEATS AS LABOUR GAIN’S MAJORITY CONTROL OF BRADFORD COUNCIL!

By James Slater of Local Leader Mag

In what was yet another close election, Labour has gained full control of Bradford Council after winning seats from the Tories and Lib Dems. Labour fought off not only Ukip, but also cleaned up leaving no seats for George Galloway’s Respect Party. This year’s local elections took place on Thursday, 22 May to elect 31 councillors to the authority and results were counted on Friday, 23 May.

Overall, just above a third of the eligible voters took part in the local elections with turnout in Bradford at 37.9%. Labour won 17 seats in this year’s local elections giving them a majority control with 46 seats on the Council. No Party has controlled the Council with a majority since Labour lost control in 2000.

Nevertheless, Labour weren’t the only winners on the night though with a UKIP surge. They came second in a large number of wards but only won a single seat in Keighley West with a 166 vote majority over sitting Labour councillor Keith Dredge. The Conservative Party were the biggest losers on the night after losing Thornton & Allerton and Bowling & Barkerend to the Labour Party. The Liberal Democrats kept their three seats in and the Greens held Shipley.

One of the closest results in the Bradford District was in Bradford Moor where sitting Labour councillor, Mohammed Shafiq only just held on to his seat with a 56 vote majority after a tough challenge from former councillor, Riaz Ahmed for the Lib Dems. Cllr Shafiq said “I was so pleased to be supported from people representing all sections of our community. I will continue to work hard throughout my next four year term.”

The Respect party failed to make any impact this year, with no councillors elected throughout. They stood mainly in wards in the centre of Bradford where they came second in most wards though in Little Horton they came second with almost 2,500 extra votes required to beat Labour’s Naveeda Ikram. Former Lord Mayor, Cllr Naveeda Ikram who won Little Horton ward with 76% of the vote, told us that “people are feeling let down by Respect – they have had no policies and no local agenda and made false promises to people. People have generally felt it was time to come back to Labour and the record we have of working hard in the ward.” The results from Respect are in sharp decline compared to that they received in the last elections held in 2012. Perhaps the most sensational result of the night came in Toller ward where Deputy Leader of the Council, Imran Hussain, took over 80% of the vote – taking 4,850 votes compared to Respect’s 660.

Respect lost made no gains and remain a Party with no councillors and one MP. George Galloway, who did not attend the count, but took to Twitter to express his opinion on the recent elections. “It’s with regret I inform you that feudal reactionary “biradari” Labour politics is back in power in Bradford City Council. God help us.

“Thanks to the thousands who voted Respect yesterday and the candidates who braved foul weather and worse. We lost but we’ll be back.” He Tweeted

The Peace Party also lost their only councillor in Heaton ward where Labour’s Nussrat Mohammed won with 1,784 votes compared to Peace’s 985.

The majority Labour now means that the Labour Party may not have to rely on other parties or independents to push their plans through. So what does this mean for Bradford? Time will tell.

Do drop us a line and give us your thoughts on Bradford local elections. Is a Labour Majority good or bad for the District? Does ‘biraderi’ politics still exist in Bradford? Drop a line to James.Slater on facebook or Tweet to @AsianSunNews

LABOUR WINS (17): Bowling and Barkerend, Bradford Moor, City, Clayton and Fairweather Green, Great Horton, Heaton, Keighley Central, Keighley East, Little Horton, Manningham, Royds, Thornton and Allerton, Toller, Tong, Wibsey, Windhill and Wrose, Wyke.

CONSERVATIVE WINS (7): Baildon, Bingley, Bingley Rural, Craven, Ilkley, Wharfedale, Worth Valley.

LIBERAL DEMOCRAT WINS (3): Bolton and Undercliffe, Eccleshill, Idle and Thackley.

UKIP win in Keighley West, Green Party in Shipley and Independent candidates Chris Atkinson in Craven and Paul Cromie in Queensbury.

GOVERNORS BEING SACKED MASKS ISSUES IN LEADERSHIP AT LBEC

GOVERNORS BEING SACKED MASKS ISSUES IN LEADERSHIP AT LBEC!

Amidst a sea of rumours, scandal, blame and accusations Faisal khan has tried to remain calm and composed. He has been pitted as the ring leader in Bradford in the Trojan horse scandal; an operation believed to have started by school governors across Bradford, Birmingham and Tower Hamlets to impose Islamic extremist views within schools. Faisal now speaks to the Asian Sunday to reveal his story.

The Ex Respect party councillor, and up until recently a governor at Laisterdyke Business and Enterprise College in Bradford, was ousted as a governor for supposedly being the ring leader in Bradford for an Islamic takeover in education. Faisal, along with the entire governing body, was sacked and replaced by Bradford council due to an Ofsted report which raised concerns over the way the governors were handling the school. Faisal laughed when asked if he was trying to impose extremist views within schools, “Definitely not, we were trying to improve standards in education that was our main focus. There is an element of meeting the needs of Muslim kids in schools but that’s really a small part, and there have never been any issues around that. For us it’s about setting high standards.”

Since Faisal got linked to the Trojan horse scandal he has been holding many talks and events to try and bring justice to his name and intentions within the education sector. He blames many newspaper articles and media coverage for defaming his character. He says they have “looked at this Trojan horse scandal and said who’s got the most links with the man from Birmingham, Tahir Alam, and have linked me to him.” Tahir Alam is the man accused of being the ring leader in the Trojan horse scandal for Birmingham. Faisal went on to clarify his relationship with Mr. Alam “I had nothing to hide if people asked me if I knew Tahir or had visited him I would admit I have because I wanted to go to a school that was outstanding with fantastic results, and his school had that.”

Mr Khan also had many allegations of his own against Bradford Council, and passionately expressed that he felt that the entire board of governors were discriminated against due to their religion and faith; “For me the issue has been that if we wasn’t for Muslim governors would we have been treated the same way and not listened to? In the last four years we’ve had the best ever results at Laisterdyke, and they need to be higher, but we expect to be treated in a fair, transparent way in regards to the local authority.” He believed that the local authority officer did not deal with the governors fairly and “deliberately misaligned us to make us look bad such as the Ofsted report.”

Many of the other governors also felt that injustice had been done towards them. Rifat Parveen the ex chair of governors at LBEC stated that the “Justice system is corrupt” she believed that the “Local government is incompetent” and the “Child is the most valuable asset.” She went on to implore that nobody believed them and the leadership at LBEC was at a poor standard.

Similarly to Rifat, Faisal also believes that the true problem is that the “Leadership team at LBEC is weak.” In his view being a governor means that they should be able to question, challenge and scrutinise, and they have been ousted for doing exactly that, “They criticised us for intervening with operational matters well as governors you have to do that when things go really wrong.”  He believed that the senior achievement officer had been “Masking the under performance of the leadership team, and that of the head teacher.” He also said that the senior achievement officer suggested that the governors had no understanding, but Faisal emphasised “We do know what we are talking about; he’s worked to hide the work of the governors and said that they aren’t functioning, but he’s failed to highlight the inadequacies of the leadership team.” Faisal defended his role and responsibilities in the past by stating “The Ofsted report said governors need to upscale themselves so we organised our own training, I don’t think any other governing body has done that.” He mentioned that the standards of education in Bradford were not where they should be “The Numbers speak for themselves we are 100/108, which is bottom of the relegation table.” And that removing governing bodies is partly the problem “It underlines the underperformance within schools because if you remove governing bodies then what happens?”

Ratna Lachman, Director of Just West Yorkshire, a human rights group, stated that the “Governors have been undermined, and the education in Bradford has also been undermined as getting ethnic minority governors is difficult as it is.” Faisal echoed the words of Ratna as he also believed “Ethnic minority governors who are competent and know what they’re talking about are seen as a threat and eventually they’re removed.” A parent whose child studied at Laisterdyke said “There isn’t the right help from the school that the children need.”

Faisal concluded by stating that they might have been removed from the school but they can still hold them to account. In his view “False information was given about the governing body and we weren’t even given the chance to explain what the truth was.” He has started a petition which asks for investigation and holds to account any wrong doing committed by local authority and the school. Faisal is still a councillor and will be for next two years; “I’m not going away” he says.

Yorkshire’s Rich List

YORKSHIRE’S RICHEST TOP 20 SHARE A COLLECTIVE FORTUNE OF CLOSE TO £10BN

The Healey brothers, Eddie and Malcolm, remain the richest people in Yorkshire, according to The Sunday Times Rich List 2014. A total of 20 people from Yorkshire worth more than £180m are included in this year’s Sunday Times Rich List, which is published in a special 116-page edition of The Sunday Times Magazine on May 18.

The 20 richest in Yorkshire are worth £9.941billion collectively, with the Healey brothers accounting for £1,300m of that. The elder brother, Eddie, now aged 76, made his fortune from property deals, the biggest of which, the sale of the Meadowhall shopping centre, near Sheffield, made him £420m. His younger brother, Malcolm, 69, made £200m from building and selling Hygena Kitchens. He repeated the process with a similar business in America, this time earning £800m from the sale.

Joining the Healey brothers and Lord Kirkham and family (worth £1,150m following the proceeds from the sale of his DFS furniture empire) in the billionaire club is Tony Murray. Now aged 94, Murray and his family are worth £1,013m, much of that tied up in Andrew Sykes, a hirer of heating and air-conditioning equipment, and London Security, a Leeds-based fire protection business which includes the Nu-Swift fire extinguisher brand. Paul Sykes ranks sixth in the Yorkshire Rich List. Like Eddie Healey, he made money from the sale of Meadowhall, but his Highstone property operation has further assets put at £253.7m in 2012-13. With personal wealth of £650m, he has deep pockets and is using some of his money to underwrite UKIP’s advertising campaign for next week’s European elections.

Just beneath Sykes in the Yorkshire wealth stakes, in seventh place, is Terry Bramall and family with £425m. However, Bramall ranks third nationally in this year’s Sunday Times Giving List off the back of£107.4m given to charity since he sold the Keepmoat construction group in late 2007. Bramall endowed the Liz and Terry Bramall Foundation the following year with an initial gift of more than £96m, which has earned a further £11m in investment income for the charity in the five years since.

On the other side there’s some bad news for Sir Ken as he sees a fall in his fortune as he goes down two places and has a decrease in wealth of £105m.

The cumulative giving dating back to 2008 is recognised for the first time in the new Giving List.

The 26th annual Sunday Times Rich List was published on May 18 in a special 116-page issue of The Sunday Times Magazine,

yorkshire rich list.jpg which profiles the 1,000 richest individuals and families in the UK and the wealthiest 250 in Ireland. The list is based on identifiable wealth, including land, property, other assets such as art and racehorses, or significant shares in publicly quoted companies. It excludes bank accounts, to which the paper has no access.

DEPUTY LEADER DEMANDS CHANGE IN LAW, POST INVASION OF BRADFORD MOSQUES BY BRITAIN FIRST

0
Cllr Imran Hussain, demand the law is changed post Britain First invasion on mosques.
Cllr Imran Hussain, demand the law is changed post Britain First invasion on mosques.

Britain First, which is believed to be a protestant far right group with its roots in Northern Ireland and Scotland visited 10 of the city’s mosques on Saturday, 10 May handing out army bibles accusing community elders of failing to stop grooming gangs and urging worshippers to convert to Christianity. The party is structured like a paramilitary organisation, with battalions representing different regions.

Britain First went on to post images and a video of themselves on Facebook confronting worshippers at the mosque and members of the Asian community.

The group’s founders severed links with the British National Party in 2010 establishing the new organisation six months later. It is contesting seats in the forthcoming European Parliamentary elections in Scotland and Wales.

Since the incident, Deputy Leader of Bradford Council, Imran Hussain has been meeting with senior police officers and officials from the Council for Mosques to take action on this issue.

Imran Hussain said “As a Muslim I feel more than insulted by the actions of these cowards. This group of fascist and racist thugs can’t simply barge into our Masjid’s to spread fear and hatred. Masjid’s and worshippers have a right to be protected and feel safe.

“It’s unacceptable that there is no law specifically to protect places of worship and I have written to the Home Secretary to demand a change in the law. Masjid’s and worshippers have an absolute

right to be protected and feel safe and the law MUST reflect this” he continued.

In statement George Galloway, MP for Bradford West, said he had also written to Theresa May

He said “I have written to the home secretary slating her failure, and that of her department, in dealing with this and calling on her to urgently come to grips with it.”

He demanded that the home secretary, Theresa May, take action to reassure the community and ban Britain First, which he called “a racist, neo-fascist gang of fanatics”.

Galloway said: “Theresa May should have been on the first train to Bradford, trailing officials and reassuring the Muslim community that not only would the perpetrators be punished but that she would ensure that an outrage like this never occurs again. Instead, a stony silence.

In a joint statement David Green, the leader of Bradford council, Jeanette Sunderland, leader of Liberal Democrats and Glen Miller, Leader of Conservative said: “We stand together to condemn strongly this outrageous behaviour by outside agitators in some mosques over the weekend … All houses of worship should be treated with respect by all members of every community, regardless of their faith or culture. Anybody who enters any house of worship must abide by the rules of that religion.

“An attack on any house of worship is an attack on everyone and the whole of Bradford district. We will not tolerate any place of worship being disrupted in an aggressive way and subject to disrespect.”

No mosques had been “desecrated” and all places of worship in the city were safe, they said. Britain First caused further controversy after using “Remember Lee Rigby” as their party slogan, themselves on ballot papers.

The Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government has praised Bradford’s Muslim community for how it has handled a number of visits from a far right group over the weekend.

Eric Pickles, a former leader of Bradford Council, and Stephen Williams, under secretary of state responsible for community cohesion, recently met with David Ward, MP for Bradford East and Bradford Council of Mosques to discuss reaction to far right activity in Bradford.

David Ward said “Local people from all communities have been great. It just goes to show that Bradford is a cohesive and strong community that will not be intimidated or bullied by the far right groups whose sole purpose is to cause trouble. They will not succeed in Bradford.“Such incitement, intimidation and planned community unrest cannot be allowed to go unpunished and we would welcome moves to understand what changes need to be made to the law in order to protect community areas from being targeted by any extremist group seeking to incite a violent reaction.”

Communities Secretary Eric Pickles said “The reaction of Bradford’s Muslim citizens was a commendable example of British reasonableness. In our country everyone should feel free to worship without fear of harassment or interruption. Freedom of worship is a fundamental and hard-fought British liberty that we should defend.”

Communities Minister Stephen Williams MP said “These were the deliberate and provocative actions of thugs and we utterly condemn the invasion of any Mosque as disrespectful and hateful. We will support faith organisations and Council of Mosques to take the right security precautions and ensure people in Bradford feel safe.

Halal Holidays from Serendipty Tailormade

With Muslims making up less than 1% of New Zealand’s population (Census 2006) compared to 4.8% of Britain’s (Census 2011), many British Muslims may not have considered visiting the country for concerns that they will not be able to  maintain a halal lifestyle. From finding a mosque in Christchurch to a halal restaurant in Auckland, concerns about  availability deter many holidaymakers from experiencing remote cultures such as these. A particular hindrance given that Britain stands as the fourth highest non OIC member source country for halal tourism (Global Muslim Lifestyle Tourism Market 2012) following Germany, Russia and France. Serendipity Tailormade enables travellers to embark on an adventure that might otherwise have seemed unlikely and their expert local knowledge and attention to detail ensures that every step is taken in faith.

Danielle Genty Nott, Regional Manager UK and Europe for Tourism New Zealand said “‘We’re thrilled that Serendipity Tailormade is opening up New Zealand to halal visitors from the UK. New Zealand prides itself on catering for every visitors needs and making sure that as many people as possible can enjoy the stunning landscapes, unique culture   and welcoming hospitality on offer.”

The increase in demand for new holiday experiences has seen Serendipity Tailormade witness an average of 94% sales rise year on year since its launch in 2012 and has fuelled the company to continue opening up the world to British Muslims in a halal friendly way. Whether wanting to experience halal Peking duck in Beijing, witness the best game viewing in Africa whilst staying in a lodge with a mosque nearby, or going on a snorkeling trip in the Maldives that enables explorers to retain their modesty it continues to work to make travel adventures possible.

Founder Nabeel Shariff shared, “Since we began, we have constantly been looking for new and interesting destinations that Muslim travellers can experience. Whilst New Zealand epitomizes the growth of halal friendly travel, it also provides us with the opportunity to create once in a lifetime trips such as round the world expeditions taking in Hong Kong, Singapore, Auckland and New York. We have no intention of stopping there either and later this year we aim to offer the Caribbean and the South Pacific to Muslim travellers”.

With a combined spending power of £20.5 billion a year (Mintel 2002) British Muslims have helped firmly establish halal travel within the marketplace, a move that has led Serendipity Tailormade to respond with the launch of Rihla, the UKs first consumer halal travel event. From 6pm – 9pm, guests will be invited to meet with leading destination experts from across  the globe, get inspired by mini travel films shown in a screening room, try some amazing eats from around the world and drop into seminars to pick up advice on how to take the best travel photos and top packing tips for a trip. Entry to the event is free and subject to availability. Those wishing to attend should register their interest at http://halaltravel.eventbrite.co.uk

Bradford Inspirational Women Awards (BIWA) was founded by Bradford born and bred Fatima Patel, Editor, Asian Sunday – the country’s first FREE Sunday newspaper. The Awards were established to showcase Bradford’s most inspirational women across public and home life, with a view to inspire and aspire future generations.

Speaking at the event, Fatima said, “I am truly overwhelmed by the support received from Bradford Council, MP’s and businesses across the district. The Inspirational Women Awards has truly been a worthy cause, as the funds generated will now be used for the Foundation’s first project.  The project has actually been inspired from the journey of our Inspirational Bollywood Icon winner, Madhuri Dixit. It was inspiring to see how, at the height of her career, she left India to settle in Denver and have a family. The world of the East and West is different and I think Madhuri went back to India stronger. We want to invite women who live in rural villages to come to the UK and spend time shadowing inspirational women here, to be able to help them learn skills and see how life is lived here in the West. More so to be aspired and inspired with a view to improving lives. We will be starting the first pilot with women from India and will then work with many other countries to deliver, exchange trips. There is always something we can learn from each other.”

Fellow Bradfordian and businesswoman Jane Vincent (Owner of recruitment company, Candelisa People; and Co-founder of CIC, Positive Bradford) said, ”The Inspirational Women Awards are just getting bigger and bigger each year. We’ve already been asked to reserve tickets from people for next year. It’s great to see so much support.”
