Harry Styles has left fans both puzzled and delighted with the release of the music video for his new single Aperture, which premiered on Friday morning. The clip not only sparked confusion and amusement online, but also intrigued viewers after a thumbnail image appeared to reveal a potential track list for his forthcoming album.
Written and directed by Aube Perrie, the video follows Styles as he wanders through an empty hotel in Los Angeles. His solitude is interrupted when he becomes aware of a tall, mysterious figure wearing sunglasses and carrying a white plastic shopping bag. The figure, credited simply as “Stranger”, begins to trail him through the building.
The tension escalates when the stranger suddenly charges at Styles, triggering a chase through the hotel’s corridors. The pursuit culminates in both figures tumbling down a circular staircase, followed by a brief bout of hand-to-hand combat. The confrontation then takes an unexpected turn, shifting seamlessly into a choreographed dance routine as the two move in synchronised steps.
In the closing moments, Styles finally receives attention from a hotel employee at the previously deserted front desk. The surreal sequence is then revealed to have been a fantasy, as the mysterious figure calmly walks past him in the lobby without incident.
Fans quickly took to YouTube to share their reactions to the unconventional video. One viewer wrote, “I love how this music video was just Harry getting his ass beat, taking a dance break, and then going to sleep.” Another commented, “He is progressively getting more unhinged and I am so here for it.”
Others highlighted the physicality of the performance, with one fan noting, “Harry doing handsprings and cartwheels was not on my 2026 bingo card,” while another joked, “Never thought I would see Ozzy Osbourne chasing Harry and then doing the Dirty Dancing move with him.”
The video has further fuelled anticipation around Styles’ upcoming album, with fans dissecting every detail as they wait for more official information.
Meanwhile, a thumbnail image in the leadup to the video being launched featured a text spiral that seemed to unveil 10 songs Styles fans can expect next month. The album track list, according to the graphic, is:
- Aperture
- American Girls
- Ready Steady Go!
- Are You Listening Yet?
- Taste Back
- The Waiting Game
- Season 2 Weight Loss
- Coming Up Roses
- Pop
- Dance No More
Molly Hawkins is credited with creative direction for the video, whose choreographer was Ryan Heffington.
