Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan was recently awarded an engineering degree at the convocation ceremony of DY Patil University in Mumbai, more than a decade after he first enrolled in the course. Taking to Instagram on Saturday, Kartik shared highlights from the emotional event, reminiscing about his college days and connecting with current students.

“From sitting in the backbench to standing on the stage for my convocation – what a journey it’s been,” Kartik wrote in his post. “DY Patil University, you gave me memories, dreams, and now, finally, my degree (only took over a decade!). Thank you, Vijay Patil Sir, my incredible teachers, and the young dreamers here for all the love – this feels like coming home.”

The actor donned a customised college jersey jacket emblazoned with his name as he addressed a packed auditorium filled with enthusiastic students. The highlight of the event was his energetic dance performance alongside students to the title track from his blockbuster film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. The auditorium echoed with thunderous applause as Kartik returned to his alma mater, warmly interacting with his former teachers and signing the college board to commemorate the visit.

“I am just too excited and happy to be here,” Kartik expressed in the video. He shared nostalgic anecdotes, pointing out areas on campus with fond memories, including a light-hearted mention of his time as a “water boy.”

Fans showered the actor with love and admiration during the visit, with gifts and emotional tributes. One touching moment captured a female fan overcome with emotion, breaking down in front of the actor, who graciously consoled her.

A Journey from engineer to Bollywood star

Kartik was pursuing an engineering degree when he got his big Bollywood break with Luv Ranjan’s Pyaar Ka Punchnama in 2011. Since then, he has become one of Bollywood’s most sought-after stars.

The actor had a stellar 2023, with hits such as Chandu Champion and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. Fans have recently speculated about his new look featuring long hair and a heavy beard, believed to be for his role in Anurag Basu’s upcoming untitled epic musical love story, which also stars Tripti Dimri. Although tight-lipped about the project, Kartik began filming last September.

Additionally, he announced his role in Dharma Productions’ forthcoming romantic drama Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri. Kartik’s most recent box-office success, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, saw him reprising his fan-favourite role as ghostbuster Rooh Baba alongside Madhuri Dixit, Vidya Balan, and Rajpal Yadav.

Kartik’s heartwarming convocation experience has only solidified his connection with fans, showcasing not just his professional journey but also his enduring humility and charm.
