Pakistani fans express dismay over Bollywood attempting to remake popular song ‘Pasoori’

The conflict between India and Pakistan has been going on for decades.

These are not limited to regional or religious uncertainties. Culture, language, and entertainment industries in particular, have also fuelled differences between the two countries to a great extent.

Just now, it was announced that the popular Coke Studio song ‘Pasoori’ was going to be remade for an Indian film.

‘Pasoori’, sung by talented artists Ali Sethi and Shae Gil was also written by Ali himself. The song took the world by storm shortly after it was aired.

The song managed to gain such immense popularity that Ali Sethi was personally invited to perform at Coachella, which is one of the biggest music festivals that takes place in US.

Not just Pakistan, but people all over the world praised the artist and song, making it trending around the globe.

Announcement about the song being remade for Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani’s upcoming film ‘Satyaprem Ki Katha’, did not sit well with Pakistani fans.

Netizens have been expressing hate and leaving negative messages all over social media.

An alleged fan on Twitter wrote:

“It’s the way y’all would shamelessly claim that Pasoori is your song and you’d give no credits at all to Ali Sethi and Shae gill, that’s what y’all did with Nach Punjaban’’

Another one wrote:

‘’The remake should be done for a Pakistani film, not Indian’’

Indian celebrities and artists have been accused of copying materials from Lollywood in the past as well, with many Pakistani artists calling them out.

Statements have not been released by Ali Sethi and Shae Gil about how they feel regarding this situation.

Whether the song gets remade or not, one can hope it does justice to the original version.
