Actor R Madhavan recently opened up about his admiration for Ajith Kumar, following the latter’s impressive performance at the 24H Dubai 2025 endurance race. Ajith’s team, Racing by Bas Koeten, clinched third place in the 991 category, and he was honoured with the Spirit of the Race recognition in the GT4 category. Ajith proudly celebrated his victory by waving the Indian flag, with his wife Shalini and Madhavan cheering him on from the sidelines.
The event sparked an outpouring of congratulatory messages for Ajith, with Madhavan being among his most vocal supporters. Sharing clips from the race on social media, Madhavan wrote, “So so proud… what a man. The one and only. Ajith Kumar.” In another post, he added, “What a man… as he says DREAMS DO COME TRUE. An incredible real HERO.” A touching photo of the duo embracing after the race has since gone viral, capturing their camaraderie.
Speaking to us about the moment, Madhavan said, “I’ve been a huge admirer of him for a long time. He’s a friend. When he was in Dubai, I happened to be there too, so I made sure to go and cheer him on.”
Describing his bond with Ajith, Madhavan added, “He’s an extraordinary human being – a man of grit, determination, and someone who makes things happen in the most decent way possible. He’s not just following his passion but also making our country proud by holding the tricolour on a podium, which is rare in motorsport. That’s something really special, and I wanted to be there for him. I also hope that his achievements bring more attention to motorsport in India.”
Days after the race, a video of Ajith involved in a car crash during a training session went viral on social media. The footage showed a speeding car losing control at 180 km/h, colliding with the safety barrier, and spinning multiple times before stopping. Fortunately, Ajith emerged from the crash unscathed.
On the professional front, Ajith continues to balance his motorsport passion with his acting career. His upcoming film, Good Bad Ugly, directed by Adhik Ravichandran, is set to release on 10 April, 2025. Meanwhile, Madhavan’s latest film, Hisaab Barabar, premiered on Zee 5 today.
