Taking to Instagram, Sonu posted a clip showing him in visible pain, explaining how he struggled through the performance. The singer received urgent medical attention and attempted stretching exercises before powering through to deliver an energetic set.

‘It felt like a needle in my spine’

In the video, Sonu described his ordeal, saying, “One of the most difficult days of my life, but very fulfilling. While singing, we often move and dance—perhaps that triggered the spasm. But I managed somehow. I never want to do less or give less when people expect so much from me. I’m glad it went well.”

He continued, “But the pain was excruciating, truly unbearable. It felt like a needle was piercing my spine. Even the slightest movement felt like the needle was going deeper. It was really bad.”

Alongside the video, Sonu captioned the post, “Sarasvati ji did hold my hand last night.” The clip quickly went viral, with fans praising his dedication while also expressing concern and wishing him a speedy recovery.

Sonu Nigam on his pre-performance routine

In a recent interview with Mashable India, Sonu spoke about his preparation before performing live. “I generally go to the gym before singing on stage or even for recordings. I work out almost five to six days a week because I feel it opens up my lungs. Before stepping up to the microphone, I remember my gurus, I pray to them… I invoke the divine around me, and when I sing, I sing as if it’s the last song of my life.”

Despite the physical strain, Sonu’s determination to give his audience the best experience remains unwavering. Fans will undoubtedly be hoping for his quick recovery as he continues to perform with his signature passion and energy.
