Meghan Markle has returned to Instagram, making waves as she kickstarted 2025 with a New Year’s Day post. Her first post in years featured a tranquil video of her running along a beach and drawing “2025” in the sand, showcasing her signature flair. On 2 January, Markle revealed the trailer for her upcoming Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, set to premiere on 15 January.
The series promises to showcase the Duchess of Sussex as a modern-day lifestyle guru, offering viewers a glimpse into her creative side. From baking and flower arranging to donning a beekeeper’s suit to collect honey, Markle embraces imperfection in her quest for joy. “We’re not in the pursuit of perfection,” she says in the trailer, “We’re in the pursuit of joy!”
Her return to social media comes at a pivotal time as she looks to revitalise her personal brand after a quieter year. Markle’s lifestyle venture, American Riviera Orchard, launched on Instagram in March 2024 but has yet to begin trading goods due to trademark setbacks. The account features a bio reading, “By Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex. Established 2024,” and a grid showcasing the brand’s logo.
Trademarking challenges have delayed the company’s plans. Despite filing an application for her line of jams and other goods in February 2024, it was rejected in August, and her team requested more time to reapply.
2025 is shaping up to be a crucial year for both Meghan and Prince Harry, whose Hollywood stock appears to be waning. Their multimillion-dollar Netflix contract, signed in 2020, is set to expire next year. Their most recent project with the platform, Polo, intended to highlight the “grit behind the glamour” of the sport, failed to resonate with audiences and received lukewarm reviews.
Before becoming the Duchess of Sussex, Markle was an avid social media user and the creator of The Tig, a popular lifestyle blog. She deactivated her personal accounts in January 2018 following her engagement to Prince Harry. Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020, both Meghan and Harry have openly discussed the dangers of social media. Meghan previously shared her struggles with online abuse, particularly during her pregnancies with Archie and Lilibet.
Now, with a Netflix series on the horizon and a return to Instagram, Markle seems poised to reignite public interest and rebuild her personal brand in 2025.
