Plans to install a 20 metre 5G phone mast in Bradford city centre have been approved.
The mast will be erected next to the entrance to the car park of The Broadway Shopping Centre on Hall Ings. In July H3G (Three) notified Bradford Council that it intended to install the mast at the site as there is an acute need for a new mast to deliver the required community coverage.
It would include a mast and equipment cabinet on the public highway between Frankies and the car park entrance.
The application was not a planning application but a “prior notification.” It means the mast could only be refused on specific heritage or safety concerns.
The Council informed the company that the mast could go ahead earlier this week.
Earlier this Summer the company withdrew an application to install a similar mast outside the National Science and Media Museum.
Council officers had raised concern that the apperance of the mast would be detrimental to a number of nearby heritage assets – including the Bradford War Memorial.
