Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha is gearing up for an exciting new chapter in her career as she steps into South Indian cinema. The Dabangg star is reportedly making her Telugu film debut with the upcoming thriller Jatadhara, alongside actor Sudheer Babu. While an official confirmation is awaited, industry insiders suggest Sonakshi has been roped in for a role unlike any she has played before.
Presented by Zee Studios and produced by Prerna Arora, Jatadhara has already generated significant buzz, especially after its grand muhurat ceremony in Hyderabad. If reports are to be believed, Sonakshi will commence shooting for the film on 8 March.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Sonakshi has been linked to South cinema. Her very first acting offer was for Kamal Haasan’s Tamil film Hey Ram, but she ultimately made her debut in Bollywood with Dabangg instead.
Fresh off her role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-anticipated Netflix series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, Sonakshi portrayed dual characters, Rehana Jahan and Fareedan Jahan, in the period drama set against the backdrop of India’s independence movement. The show, featuring an ensemble cast including Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, and Sanjeeda Sheikh, has already created immense buzz ahead of its release.
Beyond Jatadhara, Sonakshi has several projects lined up. She will share the screen with husband Zaheer Iqbal in Tu Hai Meri Kiran, directed by Karan Rawal and Sanjana Malhotra. However, the film has recently landed in legal trouble, with reports suggesting a copyright dispute raised by Adlabs over its title and potential similarities to other films in their portfolio.
She is also set to appear in the supernatural thriller Nikita Roy and the Book of Darkness, further expanding her repertoire across genres.
With Jatadhara, Sonakshi Sinha is ready to bring her Bollywood charisma to the Telugu film industry, and fans are eager to see what this new phase in her career has in store.
