Shruti Haasan might not be a morning person but she’s wide awake when it comes to making bold career moves.
The actress recently gave fans a glimpse into her off-duty self, sharing a candid selfie on Instagram with the caption: “Not a morning person. Story of my life.”
While Shruti’s relatable confession struck a chord with night owls everywhere, it’s her latest project that’s keeping audiences on edge. The actress made her international film debut with the British psychological thriller The Eye, which premiered in India as the opening film at the Wench Film Festival; a platform dedicated to women and non-binary voices in horror, sci-fi, and fantasy cinema.
Set against the sun-drenched yet haunting landscapes of Greece, The Eye follows Diana (played by Shruti) as she scatters her late husband’s ashes on a remote island — only to become entangled in the unsettling local legend of the ‘Evil Eye’ ritual.
Speaking about the project, Shruti said:
“I’ve always been drawn to stories that explore love, darkness, and self-discovery- concepts that resonate deeply with me. From the moment I read the script, I knew this film was meant for me.”
Directed by Daphne Schmon and scripted by Emily Carlton, the film features an all-female creative team, a rarity in the genre – with Mark Rowley (The Last Kingdom) and Linda Marlowe in supporting roles.
