Megastar Akshay Kumar has officially begun shooting for his much-anticipated horror-comedy, Bhooth Bangla. The film marks his exciting reunion with renowned filmmaker Priyadarshan after a 14-year gap, and is scheduled for release in cinemas on 2nd April 2026.

Taking to Instagram to express his enthusiasm, Akshay shared a new poster for the film with the caption: “Beyond excited to be on set with my favourite @priyadarshan.official as we begin the shoot of our horror comedy #BhoothBangla today. This double dose of fear and laughter will be ready for you on 2nd April, 2026! Until then, I need your best wishes.”

Following the massive success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which recently crossed the 200-crore mark worldwide, Bhooth Bangla has sparked a flurry of excitement and speculation, with fans wondering if it can replicate the magic of Kumar’s earlier horror-comedy hits.

Earlier, the announcement of Bhooth Bangla was made in a surprising birthday reveal by Kumar himself. On Ganesh Chaturthi, he shared a motion poster teasing the collaboration with Priyadarshan. The confirmation came on his birthday, with Kumar posting on social media, “Thank you for your love on my birthday, year after year! Celebrating this year with the first look of Bhooth Bangla! I’m beyond excited to join forces with Priyadarshan again after 14 years. This dream collaboration has been a long time coming… can’t wait to share this incredible journey with you all.”

Produced by Ektaa R Kapoor and Balaji Telefilms Ltd, the film reunites the duo behind cult classics such as Hera Pheri, Garam Masala, Bhagam Bhag, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, and De Dana Dan. Their past collaborations are revered in Indian cinema, and their reunion has stirred significant fan anticipation.

Fans on Instagram expressed their excitement. One user commented: “The OG duo is back”

“Blockbuster for sure!” another remarked

The film also stars iconic actors Paresh Rawal, Asrani, and Rajpal Yadav. Known for their successful collaborations in previous blockbusters, this reunion promises another unforgettable cinematic experience. Fans have expressed a range of expectations on social media, with one enthusiastic fan tweeting, “Seeing horror comedies are the flavour of the season, Bhooth Bangla has INSANE potential! I’m sure the duo of Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan are going to entertain the audience in a big way!” Another, however, raised concerns: “Priyadarshan has lost his touch in comedies ever since Neeraj Vora departed. Akshay Kumar is not at his best. I doubt this will be a massive hit unless it’s very, very good.”

While opinions are divided, the nostalgia surrounding their previous work together keeps anticipation high. With Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 proving that horror comedies are resonating with audiences, it remains to be seen if Bhooth Bangla can replicate the same charm and laughter that made their previous films iconic.

On the work front, Akshay Kumar has an impressive line-up of films, including the aerial action war-drama Sky Force alongside Nimrat Kaur, Sara Ali Khan, and Veer Paharia, the multi-starrers Welcome 3 and Housefull 5, the threequel to Hera Pheri, Jolly LLB 3 with Arshad Warsi, and an extended cameo as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the Marathi period-drama Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat.
