Bollywood megastar Akshay Kumar has unveiled the release date for his much-anticipated film Kannappa, which is set to hit cinemas worldwide on 25 April 2025. Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, the epic tale is being produced by AVA Entertainment and 24 Frames Factory. It will release in multiple languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, and English, ensuring a pan-India and global audience for the grand mythological drama.
Kannappa promises a star-studded cast and cameos by some of Indian cinema’s biggest names. Akshay Kumar will appear in a special role as Lord Shiva, alongside Prabhas as Nandi and Mohanlal in another pivotal cameo. Kajal Aggarwal joins the ensemble as Goddess Parvati, adding to the film’s divine allure.

The movie revolves around the legendary tale of Bhakta Kannappa, a devoted follower of Lord Shiva. Blending powerful storytelling, stunning visuals, and a universal theme of unshakeable devotion, Kannappa is expected to be a cinematic spectacle inspired by Indian culture and mythology.
Taking to Instagram, Akshay shared a striking new poster for the film, bearing the tagline: “The Bravest Warrior. The Ultimate Devotee.” The actor wrote, “The untold story of Lord Shiva’s greatest devotee is coming to cinemas on 25 April 2025.”
Fans quickly took to social media to share their excitement. On X (formerly Twitter), reactions ranged from hopeful to ecstatic. One user wrote, “I wish and pray this movie collects at least ₹50 crore and escapes a 50% loss,” while another simply exclaimed, “Can’t wait!” A fan urged, “Try to release in Telugu also,” reflecting the multilingual interest in the project.
The announcement adds to an already packed schedule for Akshay Kumar, who has an impressive line-up of films in the pipeline. He will next be seen in the aerial action drama Sky Force, alongside Nimrat Kaur, Sara Ali Khan, and debutant Veer Paharia. Other forthcoming projects include the multi-starrers Welcome 3 and Housefull 5, the legal drama Jolly LLB 3 with Arshad Warsi, and the eagerly awaited threequel to Hera Pheri.
He is also starring in Priyadarshan’s horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla, the period drama Shankara, and has an extended cameo as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the Marathi epic Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat.
