Akshay Kumar’s ‘Sooryavanshi’ gets postponed in light of rising COVID cases in India

Along with an onslaught of other Bollywood films, Akshay Kumar’s ‘Sooryavanshi’ has been officially postponed. Due to rising COVID cases in India, the filmmakers have announced that the Rohit Shetty directorial will not be premiering on April 30 as planned.

India’s second wave of COVID cases sees the countries’ total numbers at a record high. Because of this, many films, including the Emraan Hashmi and Amitabh Bachchan film Chehre, have been delayed. Filmmakers fear that the rise in cases mean that films simply will not make enough and ‘Sooryavanshi’ is just one of many to be postponed.

Akshay Kumar fans have been waiting for ‘Sooryavanshi’ to get its release ever since March 2020, when it was initially scheduled for release. Since then, the film has announced three new release dates: Diwali 2020, April 2 2021 and, finally, April 30. The wait has now been extended indefinitely for fans and filmgoers alike.

‘Sooryavanshi’ is directed by Rohit Shetty. Alongside Kumar, the project will star Katrina Kaif, Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh. It is anticipated to be one of the biggest blockbusters currently awaiting release in India.
