The first Loki trailer that came out left much to fans’ imaginations when it came to its narrative. For months, fans have been trying to work out where exactly the timeline fits into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially considering the fact that Loki was left dead in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’.
Would the show take place in the past, before the events of the latest Marvel films had taken place? Or had the demi-god made a dashing escape from death when he picked up the Tesseract in ‘Avengers: Endgame’.
Finally, a lot of these questions have been answered with the unveiling of the latest Loki trailer. From the looks of things, everyone’s favourite Marvel villain appears to be still very much alive and well in the modern day. The trailer begins with Loki teleporting into an non-descript facility. We find out that the God of Mischief has landed himself in trouble with “The Timekeepers”: an organisation dedicated to the maintenance of the correct timeline. By picking up the Tesseract in ‘Endgame’, it appears that Loki has knocked the timeline off-kilter and the god must work with Owen Wilson’s Mobius M. Mobius to fix it.
Hilarity and mind-bending time travel then ensues and it seems that this TV series will be the most light-hearted and preposterous of all the Marvel shows so far. The trailer features the first proper appearance of Erika Coleman’s Florence Schaffner who appears to be working alongside Loki and Mobius to help fix the timeline.
The trailer featured many sneak peeks into the show but one very brief shot in particular will certainly get fans talking. Towards the end of the trailer, we see Loki sat with a woman who has her back turned to us. Despite this, however, her short, red bob and tight, black catsuit almost certainly indicate that the demigod is sat down with the Black Widow. As Marvel fans will be aware, Black Widow a.k.a. Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johannsson) is presumed dead following the events of ‘Endgame’. Could she be back? Or is it just another one of the series’ time-travelling escapades? It seems we will have to wait until June 6 to find out.
