The shelving of Dostana 2 left fans disappointed, but many were thrilled when Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar resolved their differences to collaborate on a new romantic comedy, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri. Initial speculation suggested that Dostana 2’s leading lady, Janhvi Kapoor, might be cast alongside Kartik. Later, buzz surrounded Sharvari Wagh and Pushpa 2 star Sreeleela as potential contenders for the lead role.

However, recent reports from Bollywood Hungama indicate that Ananya Panday has been finalised to play Ray’s Rumi opposite Kartik in the upcoming film. Ananya, who previously shared the screen with Kartik in Pati Patni Aur Woh (2019), is set to extend their on-screen pairing.

A source quoted in the report revealed, “Kartik and Karan were looking for an actress with strong pull among the youth. After considering several names, they locked Ananya to play the female lead. Kartik and Ananya are a successful pair, and this will strengthen their partnership further.”

The source also hinted at Sharvari Wagh’s involvement in Kartik’s next project, Pati Patni Aur Woh 2, suggesting the Munjya actor would star alongside him in the sequel.

However, the decision to cast Ananya hasn’t been well-received by everyone. Sharvari’s fans took to social media to express their disappointment, with many calling her a better fit for the role. One Reddit user wrote, “Sharvari won’t let this slide very easily lol. Snatcher Ananya be prepared.” Another comment read, “They don’t even look good together! She looks so much younger than him. Sharvari was a far better choice.”

Others critiqued the casting decision more broadly, with one user stating, “Nepo is never a problem… untalented nepo is the problem. Sharvari isn’t untalented; she’s done crucial roles like Vedaa and didn’t just play herself in OTT films.” Another wrote, “Poor Sharvari. They give Tu Meri to Ananya and relegate Sharvari to Pati Patni Aur Woh 2.”

Amid the backlash, some fans supported Kartik and Ananya’s pairing. “On a positive note, they are both goofy, so it will be a fun time-pass watch,” one fan commented, while another added, “I’d watch anything for Annie Poo 😍😍.”

While the news remains unconfirmed by the makers, Ananya’s recent performances have demonstrated her growing versatility, and her involvement could potentially add to the film’s appeal. Fans will have to wait for official announcements to see how the cast unfolds.
