In London, last night, the announcement of the winners from the 66 Asian women across 13 categories, who were shortlisted for their achievements in making a valuable and important contribution to British life, was made.
The Asian Women of Achievement Awards, founded by Pinky Lilani CBE in 1999, created the prestigious awards to celebrate multicultural Britain and recognise the contribution that Asian women from diverse cultures and talents bring to UK society.
The awards are not simply a night of recognition but a community and a programme of initiatives that offer the opportunity for candidates to meet like-minded women and build business contacts.
The sister initiative, the Women of the Future Programme, also enables opportunities through the Women of the Future Network and Women of the Future Ambassadors Programme.
The ceremonial awards have reportedly led to the creation of numerous initiatives and projects designed to help women and improve opportunities for the next generation.
Fatima Patel, Managing Editor at RF Media, and Publishing said “They say behind every successful man is a woman and I say behind every successful woman is also a woman. This award is a reward for all the sacrifices my mother, my team and I have made to make our newspaper the title it is today and I am honoured and humbled to be sharing the same platform with such stupendously incredible women.
“Thank you to everyone who made this achievement possible,” says the owner of Asian Standard.
