Guy Ritchie’s war-action film ‘In the Grey’ to hit cinemas in April 2026

0

Filmmaker Guy Ritchie’s war-action film ‘In the Grey,’ starring Henry Cavill, has finally received a release date.

The movie will hit cinemas on 10 April, adding another big title to the spring 2026 cinema lineup.

In the Grey is written and directed by Guy Ritchie and produced by Ritchie and Ivan Atkinson for Toff Guy, along with John Friedberg for Black Bear and Dave Caplan for C2. Black Bear has taken over the film’s U.S. theatrical release after earlier plans with Lionsgate were changed. Lionsgate will still handle the movie’s digital and pay-TV release.

The war-action film is set to clash with other releases, including The Christophers, You, Me & Tuscany, an untitled Shudder Films project, and an untitled GKids movie.

The film cast includes Henry Cavill, Jake Gyllenhaal, Eiza Gonzalez, Rosamund Pike, Fisher Stevens, and Kristofer Hivju.

The story follows a secret team of elite operatives who work in the shadows. They are sent on a risky mission to steal back a billion-dollar fortune taken by a ruthless ruler. What starts as a tough heist soon turns into a full-scale fight for survival, filled with danger, tricks, and strategy.

Black Bear’s U.S. Distribution President Benjamin Kramer spoke about the film and praised Ritchie’s style, saying the movie brings together action, sharp writing, and a powerful cast.

“Guy is one of the all-time greats when it comes to creating action as fun as it is gripping. In the Grey features every ounce of his trademark style and wit, not to mention a hugely talented cast led by Jake, Henry, and Eiza. We are thankful to our partners at Lionsgate, whose flexibility and collaboration have been instrumental in bringing this together. We look forward to continuing to work with them as we bring this great film to audiences,” Benjamin Kramer, president of U.S. distribution at Black Bear, said in a statement on Tuesday, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

In the Grey is also part of Black Bear’s upcoming film slate, which includes other action projects set for release in 2026.

The clip not only sparked confusion and amusement online, but also intrigued viewers after a thumbnail image appeared to reveal a potential track list for his forthcoming album.

Written and directed by Aube Perrie, the video follows Styles as he wanders through an empty hotel in Los Angeles. His solitude is interrupted when he becomes aware of a tall, mysterious figure wearing sunglasses and carrying a white plastic shopping bag. The figure, credited simply as “Stranger”, begins to trail him through the building.

How Sinners’ Ruth E. Carter made her own “historic story” after Oscars 2026 nomination

0

Sinners costume designer Ruth E. Carter has made Oscars history after becoming the most-nominated Black woman across any category in the Academy Awards’ 96-year history. Carter secured her fifth Academy Award nomination on 22 January, earning a Best Costume Design nod for her work on the film, according to E! News.

Speaking exclusively to E! News, Carter said she was unaware of the milestone until filmmaker Ava DuVernay alerted her via text message. “I didn’t know,” she said. “Ava DuVernay sent me a text message. I was like, ‘Wow.’ I don’t like to put my mind too much into, ‘If I get nominated, how many is that going to be?’”

Reflecting on the moment, Carter added, “I read it, and I was like, ‘Damn, that’s historic. As much as I am telling historic stories, I’m also making my own historic story, and that’s what it felt like. I was a part of this African American history.’”

Carter’s nomination comes for her work on Sinners, which stars Michael B. Jordan, Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Miller and Delroy Lindo. A self-described history buff, Carter said her deep understanding of Black history informed her approach to the film’s costumes.

“I’ve had years and years of understanding all of the layers of our trajectory as Black people in this country,” she explained. “I plunged headfirst into James Van Der Zee and the photographers of the times, looking at people and what they wore and how they layered.”

The 65-year-old designer has previously been nominated for her work on Malcolm X (1992) and Amistad (1997), and won her first Oscar in 2019 for Black Panther. She went on to secure a second Academy Award four years later for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Reuniting with director Ryan Coogler on Sinners marked another milestone in their collaboration. Coogler is also nominated for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay at this year’s ceremony. Carter described working on the vampire period piece as a more intimate experience following the success of the Marvel films.

“It was an original screenplay,” she said, noting the film had roughly half the budget of Black Panther. “It was an original story… this one was a little bit more niche and small. We felt like a family.”

Sinners also made Academy Awards history this year, becoming the most-nominated film of all time with 16 nominations, surpassing the previous record of 14 held by All About Eve, Titanic and La La Land.

Since the nominations were announced, Carter said she has taken time to reflect on the moment. “I just felt in total gratitude for being me at this moment,” she said, adding that she was also thankful for her ongoing collaboration with Coogler, whose films account for three of her Oscar nominations.

Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz’s wedding DJ addresses Victoria Beckham’s “awkward” dance

0

The Beckham family drama has continued to unfold after Brooklyn Peltz Beckham alleged that his mother, Victoria Beckham, “hijacked” his first dance with Nicola Peltz Beckham at their 2022 wedding, with the couple’s wedding DJ now weighing in on the incident.

Days after Brooklyn shared his account via Instagram Stories on 19 January, DJ Fat Tony, whose real name is Tony Marnoch, appeared to confirm the 26-year-old’s version of events. Speaking on ITV on 23 January, the musician said Marc Anthony invited “the most beautiful woman in the room” on stage to dance, before calling out Victoria’s name instead of Nicola’s.

“Brooklyn’s literally devastated, because he thought he was going to do his first dance with his wife,” Tony said. “Then Nicola leaves the room crying her eyes out.”

He went on to describe the moment as uncomfortable, saying, “They do this dance, and Marc Anthony’s like, ‘Go put your hands on your mother’s hips.’ And it was a Latin, you know, Latin thing. And the whole situation was really awkward for everyone in the room.”

While noting that he has worked at many Beckham family events and describing them as a “very dancey, close-knit family”, Tony stressed that Brooklyn’s feelings were central to the issue. “This is all about how Brooklyn feels,” he said. “If he felt it was inappropriate and awkward, then it was inappropriate.”

Tony also revealed that he performed throughout the three-day wedding celebrations, including the welcome party, the wedding itself and a brunch the following morning. He described the brunch as “the most awkward part of it all”, adding that “everything that had gone on the actual wedding night was discussed amongst all the guests the next morning”.

Victoria and David Beckham, who are also parents to Romeo, 23, Cruz, 20, and Harper, 14, have not directly addressed Brooklyn’s claims. However, Cruz appeared to playfully engage with the situation online, liking Instagram posts, verified by E! News, that mocked the alleged dance, including one comparing it to a provocative performance by Victoria in 2001 and another parody suggesting the pair danced to Ginuwine’s Pony.

Meanwhile, a day after Brooklyn’s statement, David Beckham spoke more generally about social media while appearing on CNBC’s Squawk Box on 20 January. Reflecting on its influence, he said, “What I’ve found personally, especially with my kids as well, use it for the right reasons.”

The former footballer added that while he tries to educate his children, “They make mistakes. Children are allowed to make mistakes. That’s how they learn.”
