Puneet Issar and Rekha-ji tension on Big Boss

0

Rekha-ji made an appearance on Big Boss last night in order to promote her upcoming release Super Nani. Whilst Salman Khan and the Big Boss contestants were ecstatic to see Rekha-ji, and had all prepared songs, dances and poems for her, one contestant did not share the same excitement.

Puneet Issar the 63 year old actor famous for his villainous roles in films such as Yodha and having also appeared in Coolie, Krrish, Partner and Bachna Ae Haseeno received the cold shoulder from Rekha-ji. He awkwardly tried to converse with her through me-TV, the TV screen which allows Salman and his guests to speak to the BB contestants’ over the weekends, but Rekha-ji responded to him in a sarcastic manner which left Salman Khan in stitches.

Rekha-ji then entered the house to meet the contestants properly and awarded Sushant with one of her saris, but she did not greet Puneet properly and he also kept his distance from her whilst the other contestants drooled over her.

The awkwardness has stemmed from the incident that took place on the sets of Coolie, in which Puneet had accidentally punched Amitabh Bachan so hard causing him to gain a severe injury. Whilst many people have gotten over the 31 year old incident it seems that Rekha-ji still holds a grudge as everyone is aware that she was deeply in love with Amitabh in the past.

West Yorkshire Police and the Police and Crime Commissioner Launch New Hate Crime Campaign

West Yorkshire Police and the Police and Crime Commissioner for West Yorkshire are today jointly launching a new campaign to highlight the issue of hate crime.

west york police commissioner

The campaign launch coincides with the national Hate Crime Awareness Week which started on Saturday, 11 October, and aims to give people a better understanding of what hate crime is and what they can do about it.

A new online reporting system is being introduced by the Force to help encourage victims and witnesses of hate incidents – whether it is verbal, physical or on social media – to report it to the police.

The police are also making improvements to how information about hate incidents is recorded. A number of sub-categories for the recording of faith and disability hate crimes are being introduced to get a better understanding of the impact of national and international events on local communities and improve and target services for victims.

Assistant Chief Constable Andy Battle said: “Being who you are is not a crime, but being targeted because of race, sexual orientation, religion, disability or gender identity can be.

“Hate crime takes many forms including verbal abuse, harassment, threats, intimidation, physical abuse and vandalism. It can have both a devastating effect on a single victim but also the potential to divide communities.

“Everyone has a part to play in reporting hate incidents. It may be that some incidents do not constitute a criminal offence but by letting us know we can ensure that support and advice is offered to those involved and action taken where appropriate. The reporting of incidents also helps us build up a picture of any emerging patterns and helps us to police our communities.”

Mark Burns Williamson, the Police and Crime Commissioner for West Yorkshire, said: “Raising awareness of hate crime and how to report it is a key priority in the Police and Crime Plan.

“I want victims and witnesses of hate crime to feel able to come forward and report it to individuals and organisations they trust, because it is not acceptable in any form.

“We all have a responsibility to challenge the attitudes and behaviours that foster hatred because early intervention and education can make a real difference to communities ensuring they are safer and feel safer.”

Anyone with information about a hate incident is asked to report it either by calling 999 in an emergency or 101 in a non-emergency, online atwww.westyorkshire.police.uk/hatecrime or www.report-it.org.uk or in person at a police station.

The 10-week Student Guardianship scheme will see Public Services students work alongside police and West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS), delivering crime and fire prevention advice, information leaflets and community reassurance messages.

The students are required to complete 28 hours over the course duration. This will help them to complete their employability and career planning module.

College lecturer Nosheen Qamer, said: “This is a really exciting opportunity for our students which will help to give them a first-hand insight into how the police and fire service work in the local communities and how they help to keep residents safe.

We hope this Student Guardianship scheme will be a real success for all those involved, and that our students will gain vital skills and experience which will stand them in good stead for a career in public service.”

Detective Inspector Phill Bates, of Bradford District CID, was also very supportive of the scheme “Partnership working is key to reducing crime in Bradford, and the students will be playing a valuable part in enhancing our predictive policing tactics for the city.

Not only will this help them to complete their studies, but it will give them a practical policing experience which will give them the tools to progress in any future public services role.”

Tom Rhodes, WYFRS Fire Prevention Manager for Bradford, said he is very pleased to be a part of this partnership. The students will be helping the fire service by delivering safety leaflets in the run up to Bonfire Night, which is a notoriously busy time for them. “This will help keep communities safe from the dangers that can be posed by mishandling fireworks and setting fires in the open.”

FILM REVIEW: Bang Bang

By Aalia Khan

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Bang Bang; an action packed film starring Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif is about a bank receptionist Harleen Sahani (Katrina Kaif) who unsuspectingly becomes an ally to Rajveer Nanda (Hrithik Roshan) a smooth criminal who has stolen India’s prestigious Kohinoor diamond from London.

Bang-Bang-Movie-Poster

Harleen is taken on a crazy adventure with Rajveer when she falls in love with him and assists him in escaping from the government agents. Soon, not only the police, but also a dangerous crime boss Omar Zafar (Danny Denzongpa), is on the hunt for them.

With high expectations I went to watch this film, knowing fully that it was going to be an adrenaline filled action film. In my opinion the film turned out to be a complete disaster as the many fights and escape scenes were depicted in a way that made them look completely fake.

Neither the fantastic locations nor the incredible acting of Hrithik Roshan could have given this film any justice. The story line was very simple about a cat and mouse game between Rajveer and Harleen and the government agents and the criminals. However the acting of Katrina Kaif didn’t do anything for the role of a cute, ditsy receptionist who becomes a bit of a damsel in distress. And her acting, along with the awful action scenes resulted in this movie becoming a huge disappointment for me.

Hrithik Roshan is a brilliant actor and he played his role of a mega strong and fast jewel thief very well. Unfortunately Katrina Kaif did not compliment him well on screen, they look great together, but their chemistry was not believable at all.

On the other hand the songs in the film were quite nice and enjoyable to watch as the action was being played out on the screen. The film was shot in many beautiful locations such as; Thailand, Greece, London, Mumbai, Abu Dhabi and Prague so these were also lovely to see.

Bang Bang is a copy of the Hollywood film Knight and Day, which I have not seen and will not be making any effort to watch, as atleast the Bollywood version has decent songs, which cannot be expected from the Hollywood version.

According to me I would give this film **/***** rating.

Large Blaze over industrial site sends smoke billowing over Bradford

Fire crews were called to an industrial site in Norcroft Street, in the Listerhills area of Bradford, shortly before 11:30am yesterday.

This was initially reported as a car fire in a building, however, on arrival crews found that this was a multiple occupancy premise.

The fire was contained within a repair garage, inside which were over a dozen vehicles.

Eight fire pumps plus support alliances attended the scene; 70 fire fighters tackled the blaze using one ariel ladder platform, seven ground monitors and hand held jets.

District Commander for Bradford, Martin Speed said, “The fire was discovered by mechanic working within the garage who then raised the alarm.

Before the fire services arrival they attempted to put the fire out using handheld extinguishers but were unable to do so. Fortunately no-one was hurt.”

On arrival they discovered the garage workers attempting remove vehicles from the site, however a handful of the cars had been destroyed by the fire.

The fire has also significantly damaged the roof of the garage; however crews managed to stop it from spreading to adjoining properties, which have escaped with only smoke damage.

Around 30 people from neighbouring business premises were evacuated and Thornton Road and Listerhills were closed.

DC Speed added “The smoke from this fire could be seen for miles; however our crews have worked quickly to get the blaze under control and prevent further spreading.”

A full investigation into the cause will be carried out in due course.
