In October last year, Boney Kapoor, along with his daughter Janhvi Kapoor, inaugurated a chowk in Mumbai dedicated to the memory of Sridevi. The tribute was attended by political leaders and industry members, including veteran actress Shabana Azmi. The unveiling of the Sridevi Chowk was a heartfelt homage to the actress, whose influence on Indian cinema continues to be profound.
Sridevi, born as Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan in 1963, was renowned for her extraordinary roles in Hindi films such as Chandni, Lamhe, Mr India, Chaalbaaz, Nagina, Sadma, and English Vinglish. A recipient of the Padma Shri award, she also left an indelible mark in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada cinema. Her last film, Mom, won her the Best Actress National Award posthumously.
Sridevi passed away on 24 February, 2018, in Dubai, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire. Her daughters, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor, have followed in her footsteps, both pursuing careers in acting.
