Hollywood stars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have finally reached a divorce settlement after an eight-year legal battle.

The former couple finalised their terms and signed off on the split on 30 December, according to Variety.

Jolie’s lawyer, James Simon, stated: “More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr Pitt. She and the children left all properties shared with Mr Pitt, focusing on peace and healing.” He added, “This is just one part of a long, ongoing process. Angelina is exhausted but relieved this chapter is over.”

The Mr & Mrs Smith co-stars have requested a 10 to 15-day jury trial and plan to attend mediation to resolve any remaining disputes.

In 2016, the pair made headlines after an alleged physical altercation on a private plane, where Pitt was accused of choking one child and striking another, People reported. It was also alleged that Pitt grabbed Jolie by the head and shook her.

In April, Jolie’s legal team claimed Pitt’s abuse began before the 2016 incident. Pitt was also accused of blocking Jolie from selling her share of their Château Miraval winery unless she signed an NDA preventing her from speaking about the alleged abuse.
