Bradford City travel to Forest Green Rovers for their first away fixture of the 2020/21 season on Saturday afternoon and they will be hoping to improve on their 5-0 mid-week loss to Lincoln City.
Lincoln cruised to their win in the EFL Cup on Tuesday evening and led 4-0 by half time. It was a disappointing display from Stuart McCall’s Bradford side who struggled to control the game for any period against a team one division above them in League One.
Bradford gained a point in their opening day fixture against Colchester United. The game finished 0-0 at Valley Parade and the home side had the better chances and registered 17 shots on goal.
Stuart McCall will be hoping his side improve this weekend but he is well aware his Bradford team will face a tough test from Forest Green, who beat Bolton Wanderers 1-0 in their opening game last season.
Forest Green were 1-0 winners when the sides played each other for the first time last season. Joseph Mills scored the winner for Forest Green with the final kick of the game at Valley Parade. The teams did not play the scheduled second match as the remainder of the season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Prior to the match Bantams boss, Stuart McCall, said: “It will be a difficult game. Forest Green have brought players in and we know what to expect, but it is about what we focus on.
“They started very well last season and ended up just slipping outside the play-offs.”
Forest Green manager Mark Cooper said: “Bradford play in a similar way to which we play. They have got some experienced players and, of course, our fans will know about Kurtis Guthrie.
“It is going to be a tough game. They have got some good players and we will have to be at the top of our game to win it.”
The match has also been selected as one of ten EFL pilot fixtures taking place this weekend where 1,000 home supporters will be attending the New Lawn for the first time since March.
The match will be available for Bradford fans to watch on the club’s iFollow video player.
