The Bradford District and Craven Clinical Commission Group have launched a new initiative to help parents and families experiencing pregnancy, birth or new parenthood to remain in contact with maternity services during the coronavirus outbreak.
The NHS Group launched the #StillHeretoHelp slogan which encourages families and parents to continue using their local maternity services and to remain in contact with health professionals.
Local midwives are concerned that parents and families aren’t using their local maternity services due to concerns over coronavirus.
They urge people to attend appointments made with GPs and at Airedale Hospital and Bradford Royal Infirmary maternity units and stress that appointments and contact with staff is safe and personalised for patients.
Dr Amy Tatham, associate clinical director for maternity, NHS Bradford District and Craven Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) said: “I can understand that this might be a worrying time for women who are pregnant, but I would like to reassure people that midwives, midwifery teams and doctors are very much still here to help and support women and their families throughout pregnancy and birth.
“Pregnant women are offered a series of appointments which are really important to attend, these appointments are continuing throughout the coronavirus pandemic. They might be a bit different to normal but I urge women to please carry ongoing, they are there to spot any problems which may put mum or baby at risk and manage any problems as quickly as possible. If you are nervous or anxious about your appointments, please speak to your midwife or midwifery team, they are there to support you throughout pregnancy.”
The Bradford District and Craven Clinical Commission supports over 600,000 people in the local community and ensures patients are safe and healthy at home. They provide a range of face to face and online services for Bradford and some surrounding areas.
