The devastating wildfires in California continue to wreak havoc, leaving thousands displaced and numerous homes destroyed. Bollywood star and global icon Priyanka Chopra, who resides in Los Angeles with her family, expressed her sorrow and extended support to those affected by the tragedy.
In an emotional post, Priyanka shared her concerns and gratitude, writing: “My heart is heavy for LA. While I’m deeply grateful for my family’s safety, so many of our friends, colleagues, and fellow Angelenos have lost so much.”
She praised the heroic efforts of firefighters and first responders, adding: “These fires have displaced countless families and devastated entire communities, leaving an overwhelming need for rebuilding and support. To the firefighters, first responders, and volunteers risking everything – you are true heroes.”
Priyanka also urged her followers to contribute to relief efforts: “Over the past week, I’ve come across countless GoFundMe pages and organisations working tirelessly to provide relief.”
Sharing the impact
On 9 January, Priyanka shared an Instagram Story featuring first responders battling the wildfire, thanking them for their efforts. “A huge shoutout to the incredibly brave first responders. Thank you for working tirelessly overnight and continuing to help families affected. @lasdhq @losangelesfiredepartment @lapdhq,” she wrote.
She had earlier posted a video showing the wildfire engulfing parts of Los Angeles, highlighting the extent of the devastation.
The massive wildfire, which broke out on 7 January, forced over 30,000 residents to evacuate. In response, California Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency in Los Angeles.
The fires have caused widespread destruction in and around the city, with several Hollywood celebrities affected. Notable losses include Adam Brody and Leighton Meester’s £5.2 million Malibu home, which was completely destroyed. Stars like Anna Faris, Eugene Levy, Mandy Moore, Paris Hilton, Ben Affleck, Tom Hanks, Adam Sandler, and Steven Spielberg were also forced to evacuate their properties.
As California faces one of its most challenging wildfire seasons, celebrities like Priyanka Chopra continue to use their platforms to raise awareness and support for relief efforts, urging everyone to stand together during this crisis.
