Cameron Diaz has revealed that she would be interested in returning for a sequel to the 1994 comedy The Mask—but only if Jim Carrey is on board. The actress, who recently came out of a 10-year acting hiatus to star in Netflix’s Back in Action, spoke candidly with Access Hollywood about the possibility of reprising her role as nightclub singer Tina Carlyle.

“If Jim’s on board, I mean, I’ve been riding those coattails from day one,” Diaz said with a laugh, expressing her enthusiasm for the potential project. The Mask starred Carrey as Stanley Ipkis, a mild-mannered bank teller who discovers a magical mask that transforms him into a mischievous trickster.

Carrey, who has previously spoken about his willingness to return for a Mask sequel, confirmed in an interview with Comicbook.com that he would be open to the idea if the script were strong enough. “Oh gosh, you know, it has to be the right idea,” Carrey said. “It’s not really about the money. If somebody had the right idea, I guess… you can’t be definite about these things. I said I’d like to retire, but I think I was talking more about power-resting. Because as soon as a good idea comes your way, or a group of people that you really enjoyed working with and stuff, it just—things tend to change.”

In addition to her The Mask comments, Diaz also expressed interest in reuniting with her Charlie’s Angels co-stars Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu for another sequel. Diaz jokingly suggested that Jamie Foxx, her co-star in Back in Action, could step into the role of Bosley. “I’m gonna text [Liu] right now and pitch her Jamie as Bosley,” Diaz teased, hinting at a fun dynamic if the trio reunited for another action-packed installment.

With both Diaz and Carrey showing interest, fans of The Mask and Charlie’s Angels are now left wondering if these sequels could become a reality.
