The Marvel Cinematic Universe is no stranger to surprises, and with Avengers: Doomsday on the horizon, speculation is at an all-time high. Fans are eagerly debating which characters will return, and one name that keeps surfacing is Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord. But is the beloved Guardian of the Galaxy truly making a comeback?

Pratt, currently promoting Netflix’s upcoming sci-fi epic The Electric State, was recently put on the spot about his potential return to the MCU at the film’s Los Angeles premiere. While attending the red carpet event at The Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, the actor was asked by Deadline whether he would be reuniting with the Russo brothers for Marvel’s next big crossover.

His response? Classic Star-Lord.

With a knowing smile, Pratt simply said, “I know… I know.” No confirmation, no denial-just enough intrigue to send the internet into a frenzy.

Meanwhile, Avengers: Doomsday co-director Joe Russo has added fuel to the fire by suggesting that the film will feature very few returning characters—but left the door slightly ajar. “Anybody in the Marvel bag could show up in this movie,” he teased.

Adding to the whirlwind of rumours, Marvel made one of its most jaw-dropping announcements at last year’s Comic-Con-revealing that Robert Downey Jr. would return to the MCU, but not as Iron Man. Instead, he will reportedly step into the shoes of Doctor Doom, one of Marvel’s most iconic villains.

With Avengers: Doomsday shaping up to be a multiversal spectacle, fans are still holding out hope for Star-Lord’s return, even if Marvel remains tight-lipped. Until then, Pratt can be seen leading an all-star cast in The Electric State, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, alongside Millie Bobby Brown, Ke Huy Quan, Stanley Tucci, Anthony Mackie, Woody Harrelson, Colman Domingo, Jenny Slate, and more.

Will Star-Lord return to save the galaxy (again)? Only time will tell.
The Electric State arrives on Netflix on 14 March 2025.
