The Critics Choice Awards took place last night. The ceremony saw Chadwick Bosman posthumously take away the Best Actor award, whilst Carey Mulligan was awarded Best Actress for her performance in Promising Young Woman. In a surprise turn, Maria Bakalova took away Best Supporting Actress for Borat: Subsequent Moviefilm, which saw a recognition of comedic performances which are uncommon during awards season. The win for Bakalova, here, has left others wondering if the actress could be in with a chance of an Oscar nomination.
The event also saw Nomadland take away both the Best Picture and Best Director awards which puts it further good stead for the upcoming Academy Awards in April. It is currently hedged to be the best pick for the winner following its success here and at the Golden Globes.
