South Asians are extremely unhappy with a ‘Learn how to make chai latte’ video via WebMD, which has now gone viral on twitter.

The viral video shows a variety of spices being used with coconut milk and maple syrup to prepare “chai latte,” or popularly known as masala chai.

Twitter users expressed their disappointment over the video:

This is a flashback to when turmeric lattes or ‘golden milk’ became popular, a drink which is decades old like chai. These are traditional, authentic recipes which are cherished by families and easy to make at home at a low cost.

If you want to try an authentic cup of chai there are plenty in Kirklees to try, from Chaiwalla to Chaaye Paani and from Desi Chai to Cha Cha Chai.

Or if you want to try and make it yourself at home then here is a recipe that I make at home:

Boil a cup of water in a saucepan

Add in one tea bag

Once the water is boiling add in any spices of your choice

My family usually add in fennel seeds and cardamom and leave it to boil for a few minutes.

Then add in your milk, bring it to the boil and then lower the heat, simmer the pot of tea down for 2 minutes.

To taste you can add sugar if you want to. Enjoy!
