People living in the Bradford district are being invited to share and celebrate the work of local patient participation groups (PPGs) and GP practice volunteers who give up their time to improve the health and well-being of their local communities.
NHS Bradford City and NHS Bradford Districts clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) are holding a community event to celebrate the work of PPGs and GP practice volunteers on Wednesday 13 November 2019. The event has been organised by volunteers who are part of the local Patient Network with the support of the CCGs.
The Patient Network brings together the already established patient groups from each GP practice to strengthen patients’ voices and make sure their views and ideas are heard by health commissioners; ensuring they positively influence how local services are planned.
People of any age are being encouraged to come along to the event which will be held from 12.30pm to 3pm on Wednesday 13 November 2019 at Carlisle Business Centre, 60 Carlisle Rd, Bradford, BD8 8BD.
During the event, people who attend will have the opportunity to visit various different health information stalls which will include local groups and services such as Bradford Diabetes UK Group, Bradford Nutrition and Dietetics Service, local podiatry, Cancer Support Yorkshire, Carers’ Resource, Age UK, Equality Together, Bradford MIND, Relate
Bradford and Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Marilyn Foster, chair of the Patient Network for NHS Bradford City and Districts CCGs, said:
“Our event is an excellent opportunity for patient groups to come together to celebrate the important contributions they make by working closely with GP practices.
“It is also a good chance to find out more about what local organisations are doing to improve the health and well-being of local people, so that we can continue to work together to ensure the people of Bradford district are ‘happy, healthy at home’.
“I would encourage anyone interested in volunteering at their local GP practice to come along and find out more about the achievements of patient groups over the last year. New volunteers are always welcome and the more people who get involved and share their views, the better we can serve our local communities.
“On behalf of the Bradford Patient Network steering group, I would also like to thank all the organisations that will be taking part on the day.”
