The announcement follows a tumultuous past year for Rakhi, who divorced her ex-husband, Adil Khan Durrani, in 2023. Rakhi accused Adil of domestic violence, mishandling funds, and extramarital affairs. Adil was arrested in February 2023 following her complaints and spent five months in jail. Rakhi has since accused him of spreading false rumours about her to gain publicity, dismissing his behaviour as jealousy over her new relationship. “Adil is jealous of my marriage, so he wants bad publicity, wrong publicity from my name. I really don’t want to give any publicity to that idiot,” she said.
Rakhi also took to Instagram to respond to public curiosity about her wedding plans. Sharing a fiery message in Hindi, she said, “I want to tell everyone—why is everybody so worried about my wedding? I can marry whenever I want, whether in India, Pakistan, China, Bhutan, America, London, or Canada. Live and let live. What are you doing?”
