One of the UK’s most popular fashion brands, H&M, has revealed plans to come to Bradford for the first time by opening a store at The Broadway.

The highly successful global retailer will join The Broadway alongside leading department and fashion stores including Debenhams, M&S, Next, Topshop, Topman, New Look and River Island.

h&mH&M’s full line store will cover 23,503 sq ft of floor space and will benefit from The Broadway’s modern retail offering, including double-height frontages as well as the latest interior design. The store will be sited at one of The Broadway’s main entrances, just off Market Street.

H&M joins a growing list of UK leading brands who will capitalise on the forecasted 78% increase in retail spend* and the 40% increase in footfall to the city centre following the opening of The Broadway**.

Keith Mabbett, Director of Leasing at Westfield, commented: “As a global retailer, H&M adds to the impressive list of stores that have already signed up to the scheme.  In earlier surveys, H&M was one of the most requested retailers by Bradford shoppers and we very pleased to deliver H&M to the city. This further proves that the development is a key strategic location for leading UK and global brands and an important catalyst for growth in the city.

“Momentum for the development continues to grow, with more than 65% of the centre’s floor space already committed, and as work continues to progress, we expect to build on this as more brands sign up to the scheme in the coming months.”

A spokesperson from H&M said: “We are delighted to be opening our first store in Bradford and believe this is an exciting opportunity to expand our brand. Our store will offer fantastic fashion and quality clothing at the best price.”

Bradford Council Leader, Cllr David Green, said: “H&M is a very popular retailer and it is exciting to see them adding their name to the long list of major stores signing up for the Broadway development. Shoppers from all across the region will be interested in this news. It just shows the mounting confidence in Bradford which this development has escalated and is also reflected in further investment being made all around the city centre.”

The Broadway development will create 2,500 new retail jobs upon opening and is already delivering a significant boost to the local and regional economy.
