Bollywood’s next-gen duo, Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor, are all set to bring their ‘arrangement’-err, romance-to Netflix with their upcoming film, Nadaaniyan, premiering on 7 March. And in case you needed more nostalgia bait, the film also features Archana Puran Singh reprising her iconic role as Miss Briganza from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai!
Netflix dropped a fun promo announcing the release date, with Ibrahim delivering a love lecture to an entire classroom. Calling love “an arrangement” (ah, Gen Z and their commitment issues), Ibrahim’s character, Arjun Mehta, tries to rationalise relationships while Khushi Kapoor’s Pia Jai Singh blushes in the background-a classic ‘rich South Delhi girl meets Noida middle-class boy’ situation. The promo ends with Khushi cheekily asking the audience to wait until 7 March to figure out the true nature of their ‘arrangement’.
Directed by debutant Shauna Gautam, Nadaaniyan is all about modern love, heartbreak, and Gen Z’s exhausting attempts to simplify emotions that were never meant to be simple in the first place. The film also stars Suniel Shetty, Mahima Chaudhary, Jugal Hansraj, and Dia Mirza, marking Ibrahim’s big-screen debut and Khushi’s second Netflix outing after The Archies.
But while the premise has intrigued some, the internet had thoughts-and not all of them were flattering.
One user couldn’t get over Ibrahim’s screen presence (or lack thereof):
“I’m so sorry Ibrahim, but it feels so weird. His expressions and voice don’t match.”
Another was thrilled about Miss Briganza’s return:
“Miss Briganza is back!!!?”
And then there was this cinematic purist who wasn’t having it:
“Successfully ruined an iconic scene.”
Produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra, Nadaaniyan promises a fresh take on romance for Gen Z—whether it ends up being a heartfelt love story or just another meme-worthy disaster remains to be seen. Find out for yourself when it drops on Netflix on 7 March!
