Kerry Katona is ready to find love again, and she’s calling for ITV to launch a Celebrity Love Island aimed at single stars over 40. The reality TV star and mum-of-five recently split from her fiancé, Ryan Mahoney, after six years together, following what she described as a “breach of trust.”

In her weekly column, Kerry shared her thoughts on the idea: “I wish they’d do a celeb over forties Love Island – I’d be on there in a heartbeat. It looks like so much fun. I want to be involved.” While a celebrity version of the show has yet to make a return, the original series of Love Island, which began in 2005, did feature celebrities like Paul Danan and Calum Best before it ended in 2006. Despite regular stars like Joey Essex joining recent seasons, Kerry’s idea for a show tailored to older celebrities is a new spin.

Kerry also confessed to being hooked on the current Love Island: All Stars, especially after seeing Scott Thomas leave the villa, and even shared her admiration for some of the contestants. “I’m absolutely loving Love Island: All Stars – I’ve become obsessed. I think I’m a bit in love with Casey. He seems like he’s really grown up since the last time he was on the show and is very cute with Gabby. I think Ekin-Su is trying to stir up the drama too much, but I do really like Curtis,” she wrote.

The 2024 festive season was a challenging time for Kerry, who admitted to feeling “heartbroken” following her split from Ryan. Reflecting on the tough separation, she shared, “It’s hard seeing other couples happy and thinking of how I was always with Ryan at Christmas. I’m struggling to feel that spirit… I’ve spent some days crying all day because I do really miss him. I’m just heartbroken.”

While Kerry has kept the exact reasons for their break-up private, she did mention that trust was broken between them. She added, “We are no longer together and it’s been a really tough week – I never in a million years thought this would happen… There’s been a breach of trust between us. I don’t know if we’ll be able to work it out or not, but I do still love him so much.”

Now, Kerry seems determined to embrace new opportunities and is open to the possibility of re-entering the dating world, sharing her hopes of finding love once more.
